I find the texture on US peel ply CF even more aggressive than Spyderco's peel ply G-10 and Japanese peel ply CF. The resin used to make CF is also different from that used in G-10 and, in my experience, at least where Japanese peel ply CF is concerned, it makes the texture more wear resistant than that of Spyderco G-10. The texture on the CF Stretch I've carrying quite a bit still feels the same as a brand new one and shows no signs of smoothing around the edges as is common with G-10. Far too limited a sample to really prove anything by itself, but I'd be interested to hear if others have seen similar results. They are not just very similar, they are exactly the same.
Both use "peel ply" texturing, which is basically a layer of resin that is formed into a grip pattern. The process is exactly the same no matter what material sits beneath it. The only difference between the scales in the regular G10 model and the CF model is how the material under the peel ply looks.![]()
