Carbon or stainless in a custom fixed blade

You would get more mileage in the shop talk subforum. As for steel, if you want to go stainless, you might want to use something like AEB-L initially instead of ponying up $20-30 for a piece of PM steel. With that said, none of the 4 steels that you mentioned really lend themselves to being heat treated using primitive gear wth less than precise heat control or, in the case of the stainless steels, cold treatment. AEB-L can be done wth dry ice and acetone or kerosene, but I would not be conformable not using LN for the CPM154.

That's where I normally am but just thought I'd get some feedback from the users on here. Imy gonna send email off to heat treat that's not my expertise so I'll let the pros handle that. Just trying to get a feel for what people would rather have. I'm gonna talk to Chuck with AKS tomorrow and grab some AEBL

Not advertising to sell anything yet boss man just throwing ideas out there

You don't have anything to sell yet but you are advertising. Look at posts 13 and 17. No discussion of money changing hands for anything you make at your current membership level. I'm not trying to shut the door on your discussion just letting you know how to stay inside the rules.

Thanks

Jason
