I got this stee ant I want to make a lock back folding knife 11cm long blade. this steel is 2mm thick, wount it be too thin? and on the whole is this steel suitablefor knifes, what the blade will be like(hard, endurable or othe)?
these are the photoes of the steel:

That looks like the blade from a power hacksaw. I have made a couple knives from old ones from work. Don't have a clue as to how much the steel varies from one brand to the other. The ones I have are extremely hard to grind and did not soften when heated to red so suspect air hardening steel. They will flex slightly but, will shatter if deflected very far. Blades I made get extremely sharp and hold an edge real well. I do have several more laying in my pile of interesting steel and was thinking about using one as a core in a billet.

so in your openion it is a good steel, any more coments? as for hardnes it is so hard that I couldnt find a dril that cuold even scratch it. the only way to make a hole in it is use electo-erosion electrode (extremely expensive)

Carbide will put a hole in it. Used, but still sharp carbide cutters can be got by the pound on ebay...

If its the same hardness from edge to spine, you've found something special by other accounts. Take a look on rec.knives, and search for Alvin Johnson. He's made a few from old fully hardened power hacksaw blades and swears by the edge holding. Some of the ones he had tested were near HRc 65 or 66. The ends near the holes should be soft enough to work without special tools, but the body of the blade where the cutting happens, good luck.

I couldnt find such technology in my town...
to cut ir I use a simple metal dis saw, the problem is ro drill it. but it is onlu one hole so it shuoldit be to expensive.

I don't know where your town is (filling out your profile does help us) but, if you have a welding shop somewhere they almost have to have a plasma cutter these days. Putting a hole in with a plasma cutter would take about a minute tops if the machine was ready to go. Wouldn't be a precision hole but if just to secure the handle it would work and be hidden and epoxies would "size it" to fit. A machine shop would have a carbide bit close to the size you need and could put the hole right on the money for location. Remember that this blade will not take much side force (prying or bending) it will bow but once it reaches its limit it will snap right off. I use these type blades all the time to cold cut piping that has been in service and they will snap into pieces with any binding

Ill give it a try, maby I will find something that works with prasma. my previuos serches failde. I am planing to use it for self defence, what do yuo think, wuold it be suitable?(I am planing to start training FMA to improve my fighting skils with knifes)

Not great for self defense as it may break. For that I would want a knive that would take a serious blow. A bit thicker maybe too.
