Carbon steel fixed blades

I prefer carbon steel over stainless in a fixed blade anyday. I forgot how good Schrade's Old Timer fixed blades were until I sharpened a friends old Deerslayer. Those Schrades are some of the finest carbon steel knives out there. If you can still find any.

OT:

As far as folders go, I have many Old Timers. My actual knife count is over 500, 66 of which are Schrade, well over 3/4 of which are old timers.
Very cool. I have over 200 knives, a very eclectic accumulation. About the only knives that I seriously collect are OldTimers, and I only have about 45 of those, 38 different patterns with a few variations. The OldTimer fixed blades are some very nice knives, like the 160OT, 15OT, 152OT, and 156OT. The 41OT and 165OT look nice too, but I don't have those yet.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

My Japanese carbon FBs are some of the most expensive knives I have, Randall as well.
As for folders, an Opinel and/or Laguiole are essential.

As for knife count, I find having several dozen is too much already :D

best,

Another vote for Ranger and Becker Brute. Of course we are talking non-stainless here right? So anything under 12.5% chrome applies. Then A2 is in and you can look at Bark River and mission knives A2 blades.
