All of my machetes are carbon steel, 1075 mostly. They take and hold an edge well, but will rust if not kept clean and dry. Some patina or darkening of the edge is normal, especially from hunting/cleaning game. One issue I see with that one could be the cord wrapped handle. Blood and grime could make that a stinky mess. Lots of other machetes have plastic, micarta or wood handles that can be washed off. Unless the cord is expoxy soaked or sealed up, it will get nasty. You can always replace it as well.
Why not look at Condor, Ontario, or other machete makers as well. Lots of reviews here on BF, from reputable companies that know how to make and heat treat machete steel. You can buy a Fiddleback Forge blank, handle it yourself, and have a much better machete. Ontario makes theirs from 1095, the handles and edge need some work, but you will know that the steel has been made for hard work. Blind Horse knives is another one to check out, they buy blanks and make the handles and put the edge on them.
