care and feeding of stacked leather handles

I'm sure that this has come up before, but can someone help me with the restoration and care of stacked leather handles?

I have used saddlesoap in the past. Cleans and protects to a point. I found that using saddlesoap did not leave the leather feeling slippery , which on a knife handle - is a good thing

Use SnowSeal. Melt it in, wipe it off. Lasts for years.

Another vote for leather wax (e.g. SnowSeal).

If you don't want your leather to become softer you have to use a wax, 'cos any greases will do that to leather. This would be good for some applications (e.g. some boots) but not necessarily for a knife handle.
