Has anyone taken their Carni apart? I did this morning. The action was a little gritty, and I was starting to have some trouble doing a slide-bar opening, so I took it apart to lube it with some tuff-glide. The stop bar was also rattling, so I glued it in place.

To make a long story short, putting it back together was a pain in the ass. Getting the rolling lock, stop bar and pivot pin into their respective holes in the liners was extremely difficult.

The blade seems to have a little back and forth play now. It might have been like that before and I didn't notice. I hope it's nothing bad, I'd hate to have to take it apart again.

Don't get me wrong, I really like this knife. It's definately my favority folder. It's just a pain in the butt to work on.

I took my Pioneer apart also to enhance the action.I did some mods and got smoother action but I liked to never get the thing back together!I had a very hard time getting all the holes aligned for the pivot pin and then had a hard time getting the pin adjusted and getting it to stay centered in the blade hole.

Centering the pivot pin in the blade hole is not hard. All you have to do is center it, pay attention to how much protrudes from either side, put one end through one liner and scale, put the screw in, and adjust it until the proper amount protrudes. You can also compare how much it protrudes to the stop bar and rolling lock. They should all protrude the same amount.

Centering all three holes is a big pain in the ass.

Hmmmm....I didn't have any problems putting it back together. I had problems finding the spring that flew across the table and into the carpet, but not re-assembling it.

The 4th, what do you remember what order you used to put it back together? Since I've put mine back together, the blade has a bit of back and forth play, which I have not been able to correct.

Didn't have any problems finding the spring the five or six times it went flying, I was working in a room with a hardwood floor.

One of the pivot screws on mine did not thread in as easily as the other. It only would go in the bushing a few threads deep therefore causing great aggravation.

I must have got lucky. The only trouble I had was finding the spring. Mine went back together fairly easy. The lockup is as good as it was before and the action is quite abit smoother. I can't remember the order I did it in though. I can tell you, however, that I wont be taking it apart again. It was fairly easy, but not fun.

I had no trouble at all modifying an Escalator that I picked up. Just make sure you take it apart slowly (spring launch

)and you should not have any trouble. I would suggest taking it apart and putting it back together again and see if that solves your problem.
