Carolina Bowie, by Jason Knight, JS

The Carolina Bowie is 15.25" overall and has a 10" clip point blade of 1084, a blued guard/ferrule and an exceptional one piece walrus ivory handle. This knife was one of Jason's JS test knives at Blade 2003. He has just finished repolishing the blade and repairing a hairline fracture in the ivory on the opposite side of the handle. The walrus was just too nice to replace, so I am selling the knife "as is". Currently a similar piece would be well over $1,200, IF you could find as nice a piece of walrus ivory. It comes with a zippered case.

Be assured that you may return it within five days, without any reason, for a complete refund. But that possibility, is VERY unlikely!

SOLD pending funds

Payment by US Postal money order, delivery by US Priority Mail. Thanks.

It is the top knife in this photo. The ivory is simply gorgeous.

LRJ35A, yes it is.

I had an inquiry about the cause of the crack and its repair.

It occured all by itself. Natural handle materials expand and contract slowly with changes in temperature and humidity. C'est la vie.
The "repair" consisted of complete immersion in a bucket full of mineral oil for a few months. The ivory absorbed the oil and the handle expanded to fill the crack. The process left the line that you see in the photos. In the northeast our houses dry out quite a bit from heating cold winter air, which reminds me that it is time to slather my knife handles in mineral oil.
