Hey Carolina,

I love your avatar! Who is the pup?!

That, Joe, is my little yeller lab, Moxie. I traded two cases of Budweiser for her about a year and a half ago. She weighs 85 lbs now!!! She'll be with us at Masonboro Island if dogs are allowed.

ETA: I think she was about 10 weeks old in that pic.

You traded 48 beers for a lab? Awesome!

Heck, the only way that story could be cooler is if you had drank the first 24, cracked open the second, and found that it contained a puppy instead of beer.

All the best,

- Mike

Ha! I know people who would've felt cheated that their second Bud case didn't in fact contain Bud.

Awesome looking pup, RR. I'm bouncing back and forth between bringing mine along with us. He'd love to go, I'm sure, but I dont know how he'd do on the canoe ride over... we'll have to see.

ETA: By the way, is it just going to be us 3?

He's a mix. Part pit/part coon hound.100% goofball. I'll try to get a picture of him tomorrow and post it.

I think Labs are the best dogs in the world for companionship and work. At least for me. I also have a Lab Rottwieler mix that is making into a super companion. Nice looking dog. Love the yellows.

Thanks, Loosearrow. With the exception of one grotesquely obese beagle, all my dogs have been labs or labbish mixes. Moxie is actually the first full lab I've ever had. The others were, in order: Two lab/golden retriever mixes that helped raise me; a lab/german shepherd mix, the aforementioned fat beagle, and a lab/? mix, that were my constant companions through my teenage years and early twenties; and now my Moxie. She's a good dog, but still very much a foolish puppy most of the time.

moxie looks like a cutie Carolia RR... labs are definitely some of the best dogs out there... i had a black lab when i was growing up, he was an amzing bird dog/field companion...

like Loosearrow, i also have a (female) Rottwieler and Lab mix... her name is Timber.. she is an amzing dog... i think that the Rot/Lab mix is the perfect combo... this pic is a few years old, she now has more of a grey muzzle, in her ripe old age of 8...:o

Pretty dog, Mike. What are you holding that has her attention like that?

haha... how did you know....:o i was actually holding a ball... she is a ball/fetching junkie.... though now that she is getting older she has, i mean we have tapered off a little....
she actually hates having her picture taken for some reason, the ball is the only thing that works to keep her still..:)

Buck's a fine lookin dog, Snake Dr. My Moxie has a rope that she's protective over like that. It's pretty amusing. This is the only recent pic I have since I don't own a camera at the moment.

I have a Lab Beagle mix. She seems to have the lab look in a beagle body. I found her and her sister on the side of the road out in the sticks. She is unbelievably intelligent. So far she has captured and/or eaten two squirrels, four moles, one pigeon, three rabbits and two Opossums. My only complaint on a warm summer night is that she has to bare all of her 60lbs on me. She is certainly a snuggler.
I am considering putting her on some rabbits this winter. Does anyone have any suggestions on starting a dog?

Matt
