Never know what style to call some of the knives I make, this one isn't big enough to be a full size bowie or fighter but isn't small enough to be a mini either.

First time posting one of my knives in this forum....it was difficult but finally found the courage :)

Anyway.....finished this one a couple days ago but can't decide if I like the titanium spacers colored or left natural, also the pin. I might just make it an option and let the customer decide, I can anodize them anytime.

5 1/2" 1095, clay/etched/polished blade
416 SS guard with black and titanium spacers
Stabilized Carpathian Elm Burl handle with ti pin
10 1/2" o.a.l.

Thanks,
Dave

Here's a photo I shot near a window with 1 small additional light source. It shows the finishes of the knife a little better than the light tent photos.

Finally a photo showing the spacers with no color....well almost no color

That's a beauty. The blade looks fantastic and that wood is something else. I can hardly wait to see the sheath that will go with it.

How about you just call it gorgeous! I really like this piece. The overall lines are real nice and that is one stunning piece of wood.

Sweet little recurve fighter.
Love the burl,great hamon action.
Like the Ti unanodized.
Great work,Dave.

Hi Dave,

Your work is not unfamiliar to me. Thanks for posting!

A beauty of the first degree. That CRAZY hamon and darkened blade captures an essence of mystery and intent. I love the handle and the guard. Flow is abundant.

Regarding the spacer coloring, a stellar example of 'less is more', IMO. :)

Thank you. As Keith knows, your sheaths are as quality as the knives. Do yourself proud!

Coop

PS: And top-grade photos, too. You CAN do it all....!

Thanks very much you guys! I am looking forward to making the sheath.
I agree about the beautiful piece of wood, it was a leftover that Chuck (Alpha Knife) brought back from Blade!

Dave

Agree with the previous posters. Great knife and the wood is the nicest I've seen in some time!

That is an incredible knife, it is absolutely stunning!! BUT for me, that Ti pin takes away from the flow of the knife. It looks distracting when looking at the knife. That is just how I feel about. I LOVE the knife, and would be thrilled to own it.

David, Welcome. I hope you will now start to post here often. Since I am so familiar with your work I'll just say this piece is average. Of course, your average is is absolute perfection for someone else. I'm equally sure that when you post the sheath it will cause me to seek still another retirement.

I can hardly wait until we (you) post the results of our "secret project"

Come back often, my friend.

Paul

wow, that is absolutely gorgeous! I love that size bowie by the way.

(oh, and I lean toward unanodized)

Nice knife. That's some really beautiful wood!

Kind regards,

Jos

Hi Dave, great to see you posting here! Fantastic knife, as usual! That sure is a gorgeous chunk of wood, and I really like the blade profile and crazy hamon. Great work... if you feel like doing a pass around again, I am still game.

Very good looking knife. Nice photos too. Only thing I note is that the guard does not seem as long as the widest portion of the blade which might be an adjustment worthwhile. At first I kind of enjoyed the colored TI but when you did the photo without color it is just SO much better and keeps the flow of the knife much nicer between the blade and the handle and the color of the blade are nicely picked up in this good looking wood.

Thanks for posting such nice pictures of such a nice looking knife.
Please don't hesitate if you want to do this again sometime:thumbup:

It is great to see, Dave, that your health issues are behind you and you
are back making amazing knives!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Great looking knife and the wood is stunning. It's nice to see something different and it looks like it would be a handy size if put into use.
