What can you guys tell me about Carpenter B75P steel? I am interested in ease of sharpening, edge holding, and stainless properties. How's it compare to D2 performance wise?

Thanks

I had to pass up my first chance at Carpenter because it was a bead blast on a Cold Steel. Maybe I'll have something for you when they come out in satin or stoner on this model.

I want to see the comments here too....

I know it has a whole lot of moly in it. True stainless chromium levels and 4x the moly levels found in d2. But that is all I know. How if actually performs in a knife, I haven't the foggiest.

It should be easier to find info on BG42, which is basically the same composition. I haven't used either though.

B75p is essentially pushed as a substitute for bg42 but with the added benefits of the powdered steel process.

This is the blade-steel on my Brad Southard AVO mid-tech. Brad is famous (also) for his collaboration with Spyderco on the Southard flippers...where they use 204P...
Brad's AVO is his mid-tech and uses B75P. I've been carrying this knife for six months now, and am very happy with it. I am a casual user, but this is a powdered steel and I'm happy with it.
It is VERY similar to CPM-154, which is an excellent (and more widely-known) steel. Check out this chart and be happy with B75P
