More XHP and new Carpenter products is exciting news. I'm finding the XHP in the Manix2 sprint to be a great user steel. Is it just my imagination or does it seem wonderfully easy to get sharp considering it's make up and hardness? I'm hoping to get in on this mule team, and looking forward to hearing the reports from the steel junkies on it once they get out there either way.
I'm really liking it also. I do find it easy to get crazy sharp (thanks in part to the wide bevel... wide as in high, not thick); however, I am finding it difficult to polish, even on diamonds. At first I figured it was behaving this way because of its similarity to D2, which we all know doesn't like to take a high polish. But now I think the 'problem' is that the factory scratch pattern/grind marks are too big for 1 micron diamonds... it needs to be further refined before I strop with 1 micron abrasives.
