This is the best course of action. However, you can also pay with PayPal goods and services, in which case you have 6 months (180 days) to file a dispute and get your money back should the seller refuse or fail to refund you after a request made, say, 5 months after making the payment. Or, if you want to stay on the seller's books and the dispute period is coming to a close, you tell them you want a refund on the amount paid, after which you'll send the payment (via goods and services) again to renew the 180-day dispute period. If the maker won't agree to this then they're a scumbag.
