I've been trying to play around figuring out how I want to carry my BK2. I love the back side cross draw, and I like the carry it at my side and draw down. With all this playing around I came up with these, though I'm sure I will figure out some way to carry both ways with only one sheath. So until then this is what I have.

After a few tries at making a nice looking functional back sheath I finally came up with this one with a few helpful tips from Moose.

I know it's not the best quality leather I could use but it's what I have for now and I think its a little cheaper to mess up with scrap leather.

The Camel snoose tin holds cotton ball tinder with palmaid and the nano striker is also attached to it thanks to Flexxx.

I took the stock BK2 sheath and the hardwear that came with it to put pieces of leather on either side. I run my belt through the back side and I'm able to have a down draw with it this way. The blade stays in place really well, and if it does start to get loose I can put a nut and bolt back in where I took the rivet out.

Nice Job on the sheath......

Glad you like the firesteel holder

Man!... I just love the creativity that we all come up with; especially here on "OUR" forum.... Sorry guys, my dog Camo, started growling at an inanimate object.... and almost instantaneously I started feeling protective as I write. Must have been an ESEE guy driving by... I would have waved.. but I didn't see him. That durn dog must have thought it was that 'folder-toting' lady from down the street. Once, she asked me what dog is that. I just said, "He goes by the name HD." She asked what does HD mean? Camo looked at me as if to say,"MAN?.... I replied, They call him HARD DRIVE..... He's just a big pet, but dang sho' resembles my BK2.......... BTW, and this is a mantra of mine..... But just seems to me.... the more people I meet...... the more I LOVE MY DOG....

Outstanding job. Are you going to hot wax it?

I don't know how to do that so.....no not right now, but I'm going to but some Hubbard's boot grease on it to watter proof it a bit and condition the leather.

Either the DPx drama has made Bladeforums all wonky, or you are doing some strange double posting there dcbowtecher.

When I hot wax I just take a bar of Bee's wax and heat it up with a heat gun in an altoids tin. When it's liquid I'll brush it on the leather with a cheap paint brush and heat up the leather untill it's all soaked in. I'll do several coats and it seems water proof when it's done. I do the outside of the sheath only.

I'll have to give that a shot one of these days. Thanks.

Nice work! I've been considering trying my hand at leather work. But alas, I lack the creative gene, so I'll just sit back and admire everyone else's work! :D

If you do the inside with beeswax too you might reduce corrosion problems. Leather tends to hold moisture. It might also rub off a bit on the uncoated parts of your knife, which wouldn't hurt as a rust preventative either. Beeswax is about as food-safe a waterproofing as you can find.

Thanks! I'm sure you could do it also with a little practice. Thats all I did. There are a few other sheaths that I made before this one, and you can see the progressively get better. Give it a shot, you might surprise yourself.

Good to know thanks!

So should I not use boot grease on it then?

Agreed, you just gotta be careful not to put too much beeswax on the inside cause it stiffens it almost like a plastic. My blind horse bushcrafter won't stay in it's sheath anymore cause i over did it with beeswax. Sucker slides right out. Haven't figured out how to fix that yet.

While it's still warm you can mold the sheath to fit the knife. Let it cool and it will "snap" in like kydex.

I tried something like that. I may not have let it completely cool before putting the blade back in. I'll give it another go soon.
