Carry without a clip?

I'm playing with my new PM2 and I might try carrying in my jeans pocket without the clip. I work in an office so think it'll be more subtle. Does anybody here carry without the clip? Do you remove it or just leave it on the knife and not use it?

Tom

I think knives look a lot cleaner without the clip, if you're going to carry it in your pocket. That being said knives with quick 1h opening/closing (axis lock/compression lock) to me are easier to flick open/closed if you have the clip acting as a little shelf for your fingers

I carry a Chaparral at the office now. I prefer it without the clip, totally disappears in the pocket. I'm afraid of what might happen if someone saw me with a PM2 at work, lol. The Chap is the only knife that I've removed a clip from, outside of work I don't really care what is showing.

Hmm. Good point. I do rest my pinky and ring finger while flicking it open.

If I'm going to carry a knife without a clip it will be a Traditional.
The only reason I carry modern folders is because of the clip.

I usually purchase a second pocket clip and add it to the opposite handle scale. I call it super-clipping and it's incredibly inconvenient.

Carried one of my PM2's without a clip for a handful of days last week while waiting for another to arrive.
I actually really enjoyed it, for a change.

The main reason I ordered a lowrider clip was that the knife had previously flown out of my pocket (clipped) a few times due to the modded scales combined with me being flung by my instructor. This sort of thing never happened with my G10 scaled version.
There's more reason for concern with this particular PM2 because of an abnormally weak detent (compared to the few others I have).
Breakfalling near a tumbling, detent-defeated blade is no bueno.
The new clip being a blue anodized STR is reason enough for acquiring, anyhow :D

I've tried it without a clip but it felt really weird
Almost too light :D

Haha I've done this a few times as well. It was fun... but kinda overkill :)
Since then, I've adapted to ambi-carry/deployment with a single position.

I rarely use the pocket clip, but I also rarely take it off. I did take it off my mini grip and delica, but I have put it back since I sometimes use it. Mostly I just keep my knife in the pocket. It's more discreet. The only clips I use regularly are the deep carry wire clips.

Been carrying a knife loose in my back pocket for 60 years, so the clips come off any I plan on carrying more than once or twice.

I normally remove clips and carry knives in my pocket. If at work, then you don't want a clip visible. Elsewhere, I don't want a clip visible. Frankly, if I want a pocket knife, I want it to stay in my pocket, and not show. I have left the clips on some of my knives, like the Kopa and Persian 2 (75mm). They still get carried in the pocket without the use of the clip.
I wouldn't carry a knife in a pocket with lots of other stuff, especially if it is a liner lock. I have had car keys open one in my pocket. Never again....

I did the same for a little bit, but I put it back on for casual Friday where l would use the cli. p Scratched the scales up a little with the clip when adjusting it in the bottom of my pocket. Oh well.

Seldom use a clip, I have a sewed in knife pocket, works great!

The clips come off many of my Spydies when I get them. Here's some of the Spydies I've removed the clips from:

- Dragonfly (all makes, including the G10 version)
- Walker CF sprint
- Ti UKPK
- Urban
- Chaparral
- Terzuola Jr.
- Terzuola SlipIt
- Goddard Jr.
- Squeak
- Co-Pilot
- Spur
- Cat CF
- Caly Jr. Micarta

I'm sure there are others stashed away that I haven't carried in a while...

I think any knife that you want to just throw in your pocket should have the clip removed. It makes it slimmer and more comfortable to sit in the pocket.

It definitely feels great without the clip attached but I find it easier to open and close a folder with one hand when I can grasp onto the clip a bit.

I carry my military everyday in my pocket with the clip removed. It rides just fine in the bottom of the pocket.
