Carrying a multi-tool in tandem with a dedicated edc knife?

These have been coming to work with me the last few days and really compliment each other well .

I always have an alox SAK and a modern folder on my pockets, doesn't everyone?

I used to when in Canada, it was generally a LM Pulse and Griptillian. since moving here and one hand openers being less useful, I've over time found myself just carrying a multi-tool or Sak, depending on the day. on occasion I have carried my izula or bk-13 as a main knife, but even that hasn't been that big of a deal. That said, when out teaching I've been carrying a combo of two tools, either a plier MT and a SAK or two complimentary Saks, say rucksack for the saw and climber for the scissors. It changes up. For the next while I plan to carry my Rebar and style ps as my main knives, and see how those go, although I'm trying to get a better set of scissors for that role. I've been trying to get my hands on a wenger pocket tool chest to add some good gear repair capabilities, the needle looks especially useful. If I stumble across a Juice cs2 that would cover both pliers and scissors, for repair and other tasks, and then something like the rucksack or farmer would cover all my other needs. I generally look at the tool combo, rather than the blades, as I have found them all to be adequate for my needs.

I do every day at work and lately on weekends too. My Charge AL in tandem with a larger folding knife of some sort.

yesterday it was my Charge AL and my Spyderco LionSpy

Now that's a good looking pairing right there

Love the looks of the Charge Al, that black anodised aluminium is just exquisite. I have a tti though and the AL hasn't been able to justify itself to me quite yet unfortunately. I generally have my Charge then my TC Barlow or my SAK camper and my TC. Occasionally chuck in an opinel 8 just for kicks. Or all of them together:eek: But only on days where I can wear cargo pants. :D

Mine would be a small sebenza plus a victorinox compact for EDC. The sebena is more for utility daily cutting and the compact.. mostly for the scissors (which i use frequently), flat head screwdriver and the toothpick (my teeth surprisingly attracts food in between them like magnets on iron 😅). Been using the setup for awhile (kept in a pocket organizer) and, so far, works wonders 😊

Hey guys, I have been looking at such tools as the Leatherman surge or the The Victoronox Spirit to carry along with one of my EDC folders. I am a big sucker for s30v...but very few multitools come with it:( Given my sage 1 has s30v I was thinking of just carrying that with a lesser bladed multitool (420HC or something soft like that). I could just save up though for a Charge TTi and have a multitool with s30v...but I would be down an additional 100 bucks

What are your guys' opinions and experiences with the matter?

(on a side note, The Skeletool CX has 154cm, how does that compare to my beloved s30v?)

I feel like you about about steel, my regular EDC's being D2, S30V, CPM154. If you consider your EDC as you primary edge, and the leatherman as a mutlitool. Then 154CM is a nice secondary blade, it's not S30V but much better than 420HC.
You'll like the Skeletool CX, I almost got one but went with the Leatherman freestyle CX instead.

I have to admit that even though I have been flirting with a small Leatherman micra that Dave sent me to bring me over to the dark side, I still carry my dedicated pocket knife. I'm a traditional pocket knife kind of guy, and I don't see that changing. But I can see augmenting my edc pocket knife with a small mutitool.

A Leatherman is always in my backpack. Over the past few years I have gotten in the habit to never leave the house without a backpack, and before that a leathrrman was always in the car or truck anyhow. Multi tools are priceless. ... On another note this is the first I saw this subforum! :) love it
