Carrying both a plain edge and fully serrated knife

I had the Dyad and liked the concept of having one blade plain and the other serrated, however, I never warmed up to how the knife felt in the hand with one of the blades deployed. It isn't like a two blade slip joint knife where the blades blend in with the handle better. The opening holes on the Dyad make the knife feel uncomfortable to me YMMV.

What are y'all cutting that your PE won't handle? I despise SE. Serious question - not trolling.

There are a few things I encounter that PE has a tough time with. Wet poly rope is one that SE has a much easier time with. I also find SE handy when I'm walking the property and find suckers coming up around the trees or small branches that need to be removed. The serrated blade of my Dyad will often take those off in a single swipe where I'd have to make several cuts with even a shaving sharp plain edge, and it is usually faster than the saw on my Leatherman Wave on green wood. But not everyone needs a serrated blade. Many have no real need for a knife at all, but they carry one all the same. I can't remember a day when I didn't use a knife for something.

Any type of fibrous material like any vines. One summer I had a combo Cara Cara 2 in the yard with me and my Domino. It was 20 knife vs 175+ knife cutting stuff around the garden and the Cara Cara 2 kicked the Domino's butt. I got so mad I sold the Domino, lol.

And "John" you aren't the only Spyderco fan I've heard say as much about the C-44 Dyad model. Myself I just overlook some of the awkward feeling I get when I hold a C-44 Dyad with one blade deployed. But the concept of the Dyad is something that Spyderco should expand upon. They need to look at the concept of the Dyad model very closely and maybe consider designing another, more refined edition of the C-44 Dyad>> in other words determine what undesirable traits the people have issues with and literally just work the bugs out. Or they could just get right down to the drawing board and design another new double bladed folder design all together.

But the concept of the Dyad is just pure genius on Spyderco's part even though it may appear simple at first glance. There was a lot of design innovations that the Dyad has the unique distinction of literally being "one of a kind". Actually that Dyad model should be the launching point basis for inspiring more double-bladed folder designs. Oh I would still probably carry two folders on a daily basis anyway. But a double-bladed, full sized folder with a PE & SE blade would sure meet the needs of a lot of hard working guys who need knives for their daily jobs at hand. Yeah I think it's high time for the DYAD II to be considered:cool:

Haha some of the better photographers like Gary to provide some tips to the amateurs on how to position the foot out of the shot. Lol.

I'm with you on the pairs, but I change it up a lot and not always SE. Usually just a big and little.

What is that knife with the Asian writing on it?

One of the best bang-for-your-buck folders out there IMO. It's the SRM 6040

It has a very nice pocket clip, weighs 1.1oz., was scalpel sharp and it's a breeze to sharpen (well tempered 8Cr13MoV).

Beats most options at that price (under $10), and I don't post about it because of the Chinese hate there is around, but it's a really nice folder, very ergonomic and minimalist, easy to use, sheeple friendly and low profile. Clips really nice

Hard to beat for a value mini-knife with strong lock (Not like those gas station junk flippers or $3 WallMarts). Recommended 100%

In couple of years I've leaned most of the time selecting a Spyderedged Hawkbill as my "companion folder. I find that the pull cutting advantage you get from most of Spyderco's well designed Hawkbill folders gives me a lot of advantages in many cutting jobs. Now today I'm carrying an older ATS-55 era, stainless handled RESCUE model. The more I carry it the more I'm in disbelief that the stainless RESCUE didn't become one of Spyderco's iconic folders.

As solid and rigid of a folder that the stainless RESCUE model is I have the advantage of having all kinds of leverage that I don't feel like I have with the FRN RESCUE models. Having confidence with any high performance blade steel is essential for being a dependable companion folder.

This entire thread really makes a case for Spyderco to do some serious thinking about the possibility of another double bladed folder ( SE & PE). If you're occupation calls for the use of a high quality pocket folder then by all means have a Spyderedged companion folder on hand.

Two of the most different and opposite blades (rust prone, rust proof. PE, SE, Straight or Curved, Traditional and Modern...) that make a very nice combo, a true winning pair

Combine for good! Variety (like in sushi and sashimi) is the spice of life ;)
