Hey guys. Quick question, I don't have any cargo short pockets on my swimtrunks. How would you go about securing your knife to your person for when you want to take a quick dip in the ocean?

I saw a thread similar to this in another forum... I would do the same thing I do with my iPhone when I go swimming--leave it in the car!

That'd be the only place I don't carry a knife where I have clothes on, and only because I have to take a plane to get to the ocean- damn TSA.

I'd try a neoprene strap on my bicep, shouldn't interfere with swimming and is readily accessible, unless that's the arm in the sharks mouth ;D

If it was in the sharks mouth I'm not sure what i would be more pissed about my arm or my Umnum. LOL

Hahaha too awesome. The only sweeter story would be if you reached in the shark's mouth with your other hand and then unfolded the knife only to carve a blowhole so the shark can breath better. :D I am not an advocate of hunting sharks but when it comes to preserving life I think life takes precedence.

As for the OP, I prefer to put the CRK to my hip when not able to have a pocket and the clip holds it there without worry. Though have only had experience doing that in a lake and not the ocean where the waves are a pounding.

Leave it in the car or alternatively, leave it in your towel.

I often take a CRK folder in to water be it fresh or salt. I usually use a "phone cable" lanyard if I'm in shorts or clip it to the inside of my wetsuit sleeve. If you use a small McGizmo clip or similar small carabiner you can clip a lanyard to the top of your shorts along with the knife IWB even if you have no pockets or at least no suitable pockets for carry.:)

My vote is get one of the Spyderco "salt" series knives. You'll be less affected if you lose it and they're meant for saltwater use. They're also much lighter and you can probably clip them to your waistband.

I have and have used pacific and tasman salts for a good while now, both are good wet knives and I use them when racing the toppers or lazers. That's when a dropped knife is usually a lost knife.

So I decided I didn't want to lose it, and bought a pacific salt. HOLY CRAP, NO RUST. Completely worry free knife. While I'm sure my Umnum would have done fine, the Salt held up fantastic. Its a good addition to add to a collection.

I still just don't understand why anyone would want to/need to go swimming with your knife...Are you really gonna need to cut anything while taking a quick swim? I just leave it in the car.
