Carrying your fixed-blade while hiking

I always carry a sheath knife when I'm hunting/fishing, as well as a Sebenza. If I am using a daypack just hiking or something I'll carry my Sebenza and have my 7" camp knife sheathed inside the daypack. As long as I'm legal, and I am, I don't care what others think....however, I do try to educate people and set a good example by my actions. I strongly believe in doing what you want as long as it is legal & ethical w/o worrying what others think!

Whenever I'm out bush I always have my web belt with the following attached:
2 1L canteens, Fallkniven A1, Small first-aid kit, basic survival kit.

If I'm going to be more than about 200 meters away from camp then this goes with me everywhere, even if its just walking up a rise near the camp to check the weather.

I also have an EDI Genesis 1, Supertool and a Zippo lighter with me at all times.

Jeff hit it right on, use your knife around non-knife people for every chore you can, the first step in educating people about this is to make them comfortable around knives.

I always carry a Benchmade Nimravus mounted on my left pack strap, a folder clipped to my waistband (always), and usually a Ghurka Light Khukri lashed to the left side of my pack. The Glock 19 rides on my belt, unless I'm in an area ripe with Those Who Take Offense, and then the 19 goes inside the pack.

When I'm backpacking, I like to carry a belt pack as well. I keep a small knife there, usually something light like a wooden handled Finnish Pukka.

I haven't been hiking in a long time, because of lack of time & bursitis in one knee. When I did, I just carried a Buck lock blade on my belt. Hey, it's all I had at the time; I didn't know any better then; and besides I never went deep into the woods.

I still have the Buck, but would probably carry my Endura just like I do every day now. I might also try carrying my Chainpuri bladed villager khukuri from HI.

Do you suppose that 20" (OAL) of razor sharp khukuri would scare the sheeple
