Murray Carter's knives have always caught my eye, and the FS1 especially so. Just a cool graceful looking knife with sleek lines. This is not an identical copy of his FS1 design. While the overall profile is similar, the grind on this knife is somewhat thinner. For example, as the bevel was finish polished, it formed an apex. The knife could shave hair cleanly off my arms....before I even sharpened it! While it would be super cool to have left it that way, it simply would not hold up to much abuse at all, and would be extremely limited in it's ability to do any serious work. But that will give you an idea of the grind. This knife probably would not be able to survive the test Murray put his design through, seen on YouTube. However, if you don't need to chop refrigerators and solid strand wire, this knife might just be the ticket you need!
The steel is Aogomi 2, a super tough alloy. You know what Blue 2 is, what am I talking about? The blade was only tempered at 350°F, shooting for a Rockwell C hardness of 64-65. That's pretty hard, but this tungsten alloy steel is extremely tough and strong at that hardness level! The Walnut has great figure to it, with a sort of feather pattern. Watco Danish oil, TruOil, and a wax coat were used for the handle finish. Balance point is at the forefinger position. "S Davenport" on left side, "Blue" on right side.
