I’ve always liked the looks of Scagel knives however as some of you may know, I’m very partial to Damascus knives and you just don’t see many Damascus knives in the Sacgel design. So when Claudio informed me that this Damascus beauty was available, I jumped on it instantly.

The feel, fit and finish are amazing and the sheath, like most of Marcelo’s sheaths, is a work of art on it’s own. Claudio and Arial did a remarkable job on the handle in stacking beautiful materials with perfection in the Scagel style.

Specifications:

CAS Knives by Claudio & Ariel Sobral
Handel: Amber Stag – Alpaca Leather – Guayacan Wood – Green Micarta & Stainless Steel Spaces
Blade: Damascus from 5160 & 15n20 steels
Guard & Butt Cap: AISI 420
Sheath by Marcelo Sobral: Custom Tooled Leather - Ostrich Overlay & Green Snakeskin Inlay
OAL= 11-3/8""
BL=6-3/8"

As always, I thank you in advance for your views and comments.

I think it's a matter of individual taste, Kevin, I admit the green jarred me quite a bit. It will take some getting used to for a fella who thinks of Scagels in the traditional sense. The same goes for the Damascus, it's certainly different.

please let me know if you ever tire of that beauty, Kevin! It seems I have a thing for green CAS knives, lol :)

Hello David. I believe Caludio was playing off Scagel traditionally using "color" in his handles. He used red bands/spacers a lot and even green at times. See the below photo (Buddy Thomason image, I believe). And I assume matching the bright green snakeskin in the sheath also weighted in on his decision to use the green.

hope you don't mind, Kevin;

Gentlemen, as a CAS owner I would like to see everyone who owns one to wear one in the Pit at Blade. I will wear mine.

Hello Gary.

It's funny how some knives speak to you more than others. Kevin, that knife speaks to me! It's great!

Kevin, thank you very much for sharing. You are very kind.
Marcelo made the sheath even when the handle was not made. When Ariel saw the green in sheath, decided to add a little green on the handle also..
Thank you all for the comments,
Claudio

Lorien, come on, you are not that far .. Lol .. :D
We have also postponed for various reasons our debut in Blade Show, and think about it every year. In 2016 the dream comes true .. we'll be there. We are already working on it..!

Thank you very much,
