Case 154cm Mini Trapper

I have that mini trapper, trapper and stockman. I have used the mini trapper and sharpened it. I can’t compare it to GEC 1095 because I don’t have any. It is a little more stubborn to sharpen than some other production 154CM but it takes a very good edge and holds it about the same as my other 154CM knives.

I agree, they were not cheap, but the very last few sold at almost ½ price. Mine were sale priced but not ½. I think they were worth it to have a few that are unusual in my collection.

Case did a limited run of 154CM blades in 'red barnboard' bone, back in 2007 I believe. These weren't the Case/Bose collab knives, but essentially standard line (save for the steel). I lusted over a few of them, but never pulled the trigger (they weren't cheap).

At any rate, I'm sure the steel is top-notch. Twice the carbon content of 420HC (Tru-Sharp) for edge-holding, plus 4% Molybdenum (toughness/strength) and a little vanadium too (refines grain, adds some abrasion-resistance).

Yes that is what I have. I have the mini trapper and stockman.

Hey guys I sent tony Bose a message today and asked him how hard case heat treated their 154 cm. He was kind enough to reply and said that all the ones that he had tested were around 62rc. Thanks again Mr. Bose for the information.
