Case 32 Blade Rap

I own five different 32 pattern knives. Three stockmen and two Texas jacks from 1977 through 2025 and all of them have some blade rap right above the center pin. No other Case knives I have do this. Is this common on 32 patterns or am I just unlucky?
 
Not sure about "blade rap", but "blade rub" is not unusual on some Case models, stockman knives in particular. Case used to soften the tangs after heat treat prior to stamping the model number, etc on them.. That made them easier to stamp. But it also allowed the blades to flex a bit, especially in combination with the lower hardness to which the blades were treated. The side pressure during opening was enough to bring the blades into contact and they would rub a bit as they opened.

I don't think I cc have a Case stockman which does no exhibit at least some blade rub.

No, it's not blade rub. All of my Case stockmen have that, I've learned to live with it lol. What I mean is the clip blade hits the backspring right over the center pin leaving a small flat spot on the edge. All of my '32s do it but none of my other knives do.
 
I have a CV model 32 stckman. If it has that issue, I've not noticed it. I disremember exactly when I bought it, but likely around 2012.
 
I guess I would have to be a knife maker to understand why slip joint knives cannot be made entirely without blade rap. It seems to me that it should be one of the things that a knife maker always makes sure to avoid.

When a knife does damage to itself, that’s a flaw and avoiding it should be top priority.
 
I have a 75 Sockman pattern that had blade rap right out of the box. Actually sent it in to Case for repair/replacement. Four weeks later it came back all fixed up.
