Hey folks,

This is my very first Case knife. I drove about 25 minutes to a hardware store that is a Case dealer and looked at their selection of Case knives. I wasn't originally set on a stockman but I ended up with one. The light green bone just really caught my eye and I went home with a 1999 model. :)

I know nothing about this knife and I assume that since the number is 6347 SSM that it's a small stockman but I am really not sure what SSM means.

The knife has freaking perfect fit and finish and I love it. The blades have nice snap to them however the spey backspring seems a tad weak. It didn't concern me though and I really wanted this knife. I didn't even know it was a 1999 model until I got to my car and had to look at it more. :D

Yeah I spent $50 on her but it was worth it to go to the HW store and talk to the people there. The guy that helped me looked about my age (35) and you could tell he was really getting into it. He even started looking through the knives to see the one he had when he was in the Scouts (He found it by the way). We had a good time just talking and looking at stuff.

I took some pics folks. She's going in my pocket as a user.

Happy New Year!!!

Very nice, David. That's the first three spring stockman I've seen. Maybe I need to get out more.;)

David, a fine knife indeed...it's not a small stockman, there are a few sizes under that one, and only one that I know of that's larger...a '75 (4 1/4" folded)
But the '47 is a great EDC..glad to see that you're so happy with it.
You got it at a pretty good price too.

I didn't know Case was making the Pocket Worn series for that long. I really like the jigging and color of the bone. I can see why it caught your eye. Thanks for sharing.

Good looking knife. I like the stockman style.

mr lowery,
you are very lucky to find a '47 especailly a vintage 10 year old one like that nib. i have been looking for one just like that in any recent year model and handle type but all my local b&m stores have stoped stocking Case knives in favor of the chinese brands.:(

i have a few 18's. one red bone in ss and one amber bone in cv, but i love the '47's. they can take real punishment and keep on working. i wish i could find a good 47 like that knife you have there. good find & use it in good health sir.

*snowflake*,

I can go back if you like and see if they still have one. I know they still have the one in the display (which is also still brand new) and has not been handled because it's "tied" in the case. I am pretty sure they had the one in the display and another one in a box. In fact, I will take a picture of the display Case as long as they don't think I have criminal motives or something.

Heck I would be happy to go back and look at the box dates and come back with information. I know there were boxes of knives inside the case (because I saw them) that were actually not in the display.

Sound good?

Colt,

No problem bro.

I knew people would ask about a business card so I got one and even took a picture of it. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post it here or not. I am not trying to advertise for them just trying to help folks out. If I shouldn't post the business card I apologize.

Here it is....

I could be mistaken, but it seems like I read somewhere they started the Pocket Worn line in 1998.

Thanks man. :)

Are other stockmans only 2 spring or what?

-

They also had a 4 bladed stockman there that was kinda weird looking. I didn't even know they made 4 blade stockmans.

It was neat.

All of mine are two spring with the main clip blade on one and the Sheepsfoot and spey on opposite ends of the other. But I only have a couple dozen from ten different makers (including Case).;)

The Buck 301 uses 3 springs. I think the 303 does as well.
