Case 6347HP critique

It's a great knife. I've mostly had the square bolstered stock knives in the past but recently added a few with rounded bolsters and really like 'em.

I like the 3318 but it's a tad smaller than I prefer. The 6347 splits the difference between the 3318 and 6375 real well. Very pocketable but still plenty of knife to grab on to and use.

It works well as a companion to that CV 6249 you sent me a couple weeks back. (If only it had springs like the 6347 it'd be a near perfect knife.)

Glad you like it.... I would have to agree with you on the 18's. I know they will do just about anything needed, but I have big hands and prefer the size and feel of the 47's.

navihawk -- my sympathies are, unfortunately, from first-hand experience. Just keep breathing, everything else is gonna do what it's gonna do.

Thanks sixgunner. I just got out of the hospital again. I thought the stone moved to the front. Nope.Had a bout of Colitis. Every bit as painful as stones. Thet ended up putting a stint in me for the stone and a catheter. Sorry to whore up the thread on the subject of stones. I'll be ok in a few days. Thanks

So I'm eating dinner tonight and I hear a clang against glass. The wife put my jeans in the laundry with my Bulldog Sowbwelly:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:I dried it up but I think its goin to rust up anyways. I hope not.

The 6347 is a real classic. I was stunned when they discontinued the CV version in 1991 since it had been such a staple in the Case line.

I also do not like the current 3-backspring version. Blade stock seems too thin and I don't like the fact that there is no spacer between the tangs of the main blade and the sheepfoot blade.
Maybe that's what's causing the gritty feeling on mine . The tangs rubbing ? I was thinking it was the spring on spring on spring causing it . All my others have brass between the springs

The gritty feeling in Case' knives is usually just it needs cleaned. Apparently* they're notorious for not cleaning their knives after assembling and buffing. Work the blades open and closed in some hot soapy water, then clean hot water, then wd40... dry,(can of compressed air is handy here) and oil the joint.

Maybe try flooding with wd40 first and open/close several times see if you don't need the full bath.

*I say apparently because I've never had a new Case need this treatment. Used yes, new, no. But everyone here seems to bitch about it being that way with every new Case they get.
