Case at Walmart ?

Walmart does have some history with Case pocket knives. Back in the early to mid 1990's, Walmart used to have a more conventional knife display with a large selection of Schrade, Buck, and other knives, including about five patterns of Case pocket knives. These were not in clamshells, you could actually examine and hand pick a knife. Walmart even had several patterns made in a Walmart exclusive bone color/jigging - it was an antique green bone.

At my local Walmarts I have not in recent years seen anything other than various imported knives. So it may be a regional thing.

Havent seen any CASE around these parts in WM.. Was in NY WM last fall and saw the orange shotgun shell trapper in the case.. Still kicking myself for not getting it!! I keep looking when traveling now!! Dang it!!! John

My local WM still has one of those in the knife display, I believe. Maybe your WM can transfer it to their store or something.

I haven't been to a Wal-mart store in quite a while, and have no immediate plans to visit one. I remember Lowe's used to carry Case knives. Many big retailers expand their stock around Christmas, adding gift-type items that they otherwise don't normally carry.

Well.. My WM/manager was no help at doing a store transfer.. Said they don't do it.. Their web site is very unreliable too.. :( Soo.. I guess I will keep looking and hope I stumble upon one!! :D John

I too saw some Case knives there just recently, along with some Buck "Christmas" sets in hunting tins. lol I am fortunate to live in a small town and the local hardware and feed stores both have nice selection of traditionals.

I'll see if it's still in the case the next time I'm in ol wally world. I'm a little friendly with them so maybe we can get something done. Winky face.

I know of one Walmart here in Arkansas that has a normal Case display set up, separate from the normal counter display of knives that they always have. It's been there for several years. Maybe I'm spoiled from going to the Case knife outlet, or from shopping online but the Case knives at this Walmart are overpriced by at least $25-$30. Another Walmart where I live occasionally will have a couple of Case knives in with the regular knives and i picked up a mini trapper a couple of years ago with a hunting scene on it and it was a special available only at Walmart. The other night I noticed my store had a medium stockman and i think it was $69! So they seem to be a more pricey than where I usually look/

Yes.. Standard catalog CASE knives are higher at WM.. The knife I am looking for was only sold thru WM.. Orange synthetic handled full size trapper with a shot gun shell shield.. Brown box..

Thanks again kiteman72!! John

No problem, John! I should be "required" to go sometime in the next few days, so hopefully they will still have one.

Will check out Wally World next time, or may try the Tractor Supply.

I’m going to be in a Nebraska Wally World this afternoon. If they have one do you want me to pick it up for you?

You can put in your zip code on their website and see if they're sold at the location you're going to. That way you don't have to waste the time and brave the crazies unless you'll be going anyway.

My uncle worked at Wal-Mart back in the 70's. They sold a lot of Shrade knives back then. He pointed out to me that when you buy a knife at Wal-Mart, always inspect it first. Most of their Shrades had wobbly blades. They weren't like that from other dealers. I guess when you pay less, you might also be getting what you pay for.
