Case Back Pocket concern

Coaltrain, is it the angle that you took your picture which seems to place some of the nail nick below the frame's border.... or is it actaully what it is. If it is, I think Case would likely fix or replace. I know returning is a hassle.... but it would likely completely be corrected properly without you needing to modify :-)

Coal, I'm with G2. Dig that 'pick out, slice a third of it off lengthwise and reinsert. Should be perfect.

I made sure I took the pics at a perfect straight angle as I know it could be deceiving if shot from more of an upward angle. The nail nick is definitely almost half hidden by the frame. I can I only just barely catch the one end of the nick with my thumbnail.

I did a Google image search on this knife last night, and the couple images I found in the closed position also showed the blade riding low like mine. I'm glad a couple folks chimed in here showing/saying that theirs is normal. All the more reason to send it in to Case in my opinion

Yeah... sending things back is frustrating to me (as I'm sure it is to most).... but what you get back should be what you wanted in the first place... I guess a $6 priority mail shipoff it will be ;-) Hope it comes back quick for you :-) I just got my new Buck 55 back from warranty work, it having had unacceptable blade wobble right out the box... it is back, and it is now as perfect as I can ever expect... of course no wobble now. So, I guess I am learning to accept having to make a few returns. Still waiting for one of my Canal Street knives to come come back to me too... Guess it is what it is, my friend :-)

Decision made - the knife is packed up and off to Case on Monday. I'll update when I hear back from them (6-8 weeks....??)

Stan, if you buy a small piece of balsa wood, you can cut a shim to exactly the right size.

Success! And Kudos to Case Repair Center!

Received the Back Pocket back from Case Repair today. They did a fantastic job of getting this one right. I snapped a quick pic before I cleaned it up - couple smudges here and there from handling in the factory.

For reference, first is the before pic - second is the after taken today:

Man, I love this knife, but it might have to go on the selling block. Even with the nail nick now exposed like it should be, I still have a bit of a hard time opening it. I'm going to give it a good chance though - going to leave it in the partially open position for a couple days and give the pivot a good lube and see what happens from there.

Also received back from Case my beloved Trapperlock in stag today, but it's a shame I can't talk about it here............

No worries I think this is worth it. I've been following your posts and would love it if you could have access to all of your traditionals again. They have a bar version too called a kwik thumbstud and will fit up to 1/8 the inch blades.

Yes - I already have visions of access to many more traditional designs with the possibility of that item you posted.

This forum is already heavily modded in my opinion - now even the ranks come forward to slap my wrist........

Sending off an email now.

No - never heard of them. It looks like this might be a huge help.

Gee - someone is trying to help me with a problem I have - why doesn't this belong......??

cchu518 - since someone thinks this is not allowed here, I guess I'll send you an email to request more info.

It still doesn't belong here and could have been addressed via PM, VM or email.

If the conversation about this modification gains or maintains any traction, all of the related posts will be moved offline.
