Case Backpocket...Antique Smooth Bone

I carried a Schrade Uncle Henry Trapper in my back pocket when I was a teenager, just as described in the video...next to my wallet.

What I didn't like was, whenever I removed my wallet, the knife would fall down horizontally in the bottom of my pocket and I found it to be a royal PITA to have to dig for the knife and then slip it back in my pocket after I would pocket my wallet again. It was comfortable to carry and I never felt like I was sitting on anything hard, but as mentioned, it took four actions to get my wallet in and out of pocket instead of just two.

I usually try to stay around 3.75" or smaller closed length with a slip joint in my front pocket. Anything over four inches and I would be looking for a belt sheath.

My personal 'success' with back-pocket, alongside-the-wallet carry has not been so positive. I used to carry my Buck 307 that way, and I've also carried smaller knives (like a Queen Country Cousin) in that fashion. Between those two knives, I've managed to inadvertently yank them out of the pocket, three times, when removing my wallet. I haven't lost a knife yet, but I didn't care for the sound of my knife hitting the concrete. I don't carry that way, anymore. If/when I do have a knife in the back pocket, it's always by itself, with my wallet in the other back pocket.

Edited to add:
When I dropped my Country Cousin one day, I found out this particular problem wasn't uniquely mine. I was entering Costco, and pulled my wallet out to retrieve my membership card, dropping the knife. A woman behind me immediately reached down, picked it up and handed it back to me with a warm smile. She said, "My husband does the same thing!". Sort of made me chuckle inside. :p

I must be odd, or have big pockets. I don't find the #23 pattern to be big for front pocket at all. I had it in the back pocket as well. I don't however, sit on a wallet (back issues).

Suit, or jeans, I don't notice the #23. Then again, I don't own any tight pants.

First, the Case Backpocket is a real beauty. Case does a great job finishing their knives. Every Case I have purchased is sharp....out of the box. They have made a believer out of me. Second, I was able to have an appropriate sheath made that works very well on the inside pocket of a sport coat or suit.

Thanks for all the help and comments. Dan

The Back Pocket models are really thin, so you probably won't notice it very much. I have carried one of mine right next to my wallet and hardly knew it was there. Great knives. I have three of them.

looks like a good choice. i currently carry a buck 110 in the back pocket of my jeans without a problem. if case made a backpocket with a lockback i would carry it over the 110.
You could always try a Queen Mountain Man...
