Let's get the staight poop on this from Tony or the Shell Answer Man, whichever responds first. :D

It was either the first 2 or 3 years of collabs that didn't have bushings, according to Tony.

Got this when I arrived back home today from Brazil, a nice way to
end my long trip and on my birthday too! :) Thanks Vince,

Gary,Welcome back & Happy Birthday, your picture is perfect, and you are welcome, enjoy it friend,

Thanks Vince, while the back spring is nice and strong
it would never allow the blades to sit at those angles
so, I propped them up with small pieces of leather inside
the handle for the kicks to rest on, leather kick stands? lol
but that way I could catch this quick image of a nice knife!
Thanks Tony Bose and Case!

morrowj_98 and all,
Yes the blades are swedged rather nicely, and ground thin and are sharp. It was suggested earlier in the week in a Trapper thread, that some custom knifemakers knives, were available only at real high second market pricetags.
Well I can assure you,and now Gary can chime in,too, this knife & the Dog leg in this thread, are as near to a custom slipjoint as you are going to get.I see these muskrats available for under $300 on - line.Look no further guys, these are really fantastic.Gary I've had one other of these in stag, and the fit and finish on yours was better,so,I can say, there is some variation. But,there also is variation in custom slipjoint knives,as well.
These are really fine knives,IMHO,Thanks,
-Vince

Very nice Gary, you will enjoy that beauty...What Vince says is absolutely correct, they are the best production knife on the market, by far...

Might I ask where (besides ebay)?

Ebay is not so bad.You should only know what I paid for my Dog leg & Gary can attest that the Ebay price was good,as well.

Check out Cumberland Knife's ebay store, he has 4 antique bone muskrats for a good price..

I like that wharncliff blade on the bose/case muskrat, but I'm curious about the backspring arrangement on it? does it have one spring or 2?

has one large back spring, very strong it is too,
it measures .154" thick

blades have solid half stops
for the image I took, I placed pieces of leather for the kicks of the
blades to rest on, so they would be crossed as you see them there
the back spring would not allow such a pose unless I had something
to stop them from snapping shut :)

edited to add a few photo's

there is a milled relief in the scales, nice touch!
and with the blade out, the fit up of back spring to blade is top notch, well done!

Love those swedges!

Thanks for adding the very nice images Gary. They show the catch bit used to space the wharncliffe blade(to the left in your images) so that it can pass the clip blade, which is also spaced by a similar catch bit. The cut swedge on the inside of the wharncliffe blade gives the blades room to pass each other.

Some have told me they think the Case/Bose Muskrat is the best of the collab knives. I need to get one of those but I would be using it.:D

I have The Case Bose Muskrat and it really is very close to the quality you find in a custom, in my opinion.
