Was there a Case/Bose sowbelly ever made? There are two knives (a 3 blade and a 5 blade) up for auction now where the seller says they are Case/Boses.

Item #'s 150125581661 and 280118618729QQ

No TBose on the second blade and they say Case on the shield too. I'm guessing it is a simple minded scam to pawn them off to people who don't know what to look for, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I do not recall a sowbelly in the Case/Bose Collaboration knife series. Maybe they are one of Tony's designs but not one of the official collaboration knives.

My understanding ( Always a scary thing ) is there was a sowbelly but not of the same model or line in the collaboration series that we know. It was not made with ATS 34 steel but SS and does not seem to be the same caliber knife. Here is a picture I had stuck back in the files of the sowbelly knife..

Maybe others can elaborate more..?

Oh yeah there seems to be a saddlehorn as well in the same class as the sowbelly..

I had one of those three blader sows at one point. From what I understand, like you guys said, there not the high end pieces that come out each year but patterns by Tony made the "regular" way by Case. I've also seen saddlehorns like this too.

For what it's worth, the sow I had was a sharp little monster.

Sunburst, didn't see the saddlehorn when I posted. Thanks

These a slick knifes. Not to be confused with the yearly issued ones. They did make a limited run of these with ATS-34 that comes in a wooden case. You can really see Tony's influence in this model.

These sowbellies and saddlehorns are a regular Case production knife and is their catalog that I designed for them. They are not a Case-Bose colbration that is issued only once a year. They are about $50-60range and offer a good value for no more than they cost. Someone can buy one and take care of it and it will last for years. They are made in the USA by Americans and I'm proud of that.

Thanks to all for the responses. So, I take it that these are Tony Bose designs, but not collaborations.

Thanks for the response Tony. Can you tell us what mfg. procedure results in the Case/Bose collaboration knives? Do you design/oversee/inspect them, or other? Just curious on what the difference is in the collaboration knives and these. The collaborations look like real good knives. I especially like the slimline trapper. I've looked around and on the Case website (and I can't even find any listing of the collaboration knives there), and I can't find any information on what the collaboration involves.

Seems like the sellers are not exactly doing false advertising on the two listings I posted, but I am gathering that they are a different breed than the collaboration knives.

The collaboration knives are much higher quality and limited numbers. They are deep cryo heat treated ATS34 and all stainless frames and bolsters with pined on shields after the 2nd year. Most of them have a bushing in the pivot and they are made to be work horses. I know several people that carry and use them. They will preform. All of these are made in the proto shop by 3 men. I have went there and helped them get started on the lockback whittler. All the parts are EDM wire cut from prototypes that I make so what they end up with is very close to what I send them. Try one, you'll like it.

Hey Tony..I got my Case Collector Magazine yesterday..That Swing Guard Lock is a MONSTER!! What a beauty!! I was wondering if you could turn one out for me in your spare time?? ;)...See ya in 2 weeks..Are you sure you can handle me and Reese for 9hrs of driving??

Very valuable info - much appreciated Tony. I need to print your response out and save it with the knife (when I get one).

For what little I can add to Tony's statement (above), I will state for the record that the four Case/Bose collaboration knives I own rival high end custom made slipjoints. (I own the Millennium Trapper, Dogleg Jack, Muskrat and Lockback Whittler.)

I agree a 100% with Blues, the collaboration knives are as nice as most customs I have owned and the variation in styles really makes it a fun knife to collect or use..

Now if we can talk Tony into pushing his pearl handled toenail onto Case for the next Case/Bose collaboration all will be right with the universe..:D

Thanks again for the great information..

I hear the unmistakable sound of monkey wings fluttering in the distance. :D

It really makes me glad to hear the details and your experience with them. I don't like to buy before I handle and eyeball a knife, but living in Holland means I have limited chances to do that. Based on this thread, a Case/Bose is high on my list to search out the next time I am back in the States. Or, maybe even buy without handling (!)

Uh oh....You did say monkey wings fluttering...I live in the south and wings of any type fluttering stand a great chance of being blasted out of the air...Hey a man can dream can't he.. :)

The Case/Bose makes a great user ! Mine is pretty stiff to open but is breaking in nicely the more I use it.

It has a few scuffs and marks on the bolsters/blades now , but this was when I got it.

Is there a complete listing of the limited Case/Bose collabs anywhere ?
Think I might need to pick me up another :)
