I like em more like this GEC. Is one reason I bought this knife. Case will make it right for ya.

Wow that's as bad as I've seen. And the #1 reason I only buy stag handled knives I can handle first. Yes stag suitable for handle material is hard to come by but that's why we pay the premium price.

Right, but it's not like Case was caught unawares by the need to have stag suitable for a premium Bose knife--

"Oh gosh, someone actually ordered one in stag? Let's see what we have lying around. Okay, here's some; we'll make this piece fit."

One would hope.

Though the OP's knife suggests otherwise!

I, too, am interested in hearing Case's response.

Katie from Case has been super nice, knife is in the mail to her. I look foward to its return.

A fine example of stag. Really nice. Pieces matched up for size and appearance, and the care in fitting and finishing shows. Bet it wasn't nearly as expensive as the OP's CASE. To me there is no excuse for that kind of difference or fit, regardless of price. Considering the high price though, it makes that kind of nonsense insulting. You would think that at that price point and using the TBose name on it, they might take one extra look at those knives and set that one aside.

I agree with Carl. Somewhere along the way the skills to do good work with stag have suffered on American knives. About a year ago I bought an EYE brand medium stockman with stag handles. Fit, finish, (and the knife overall) was just great. Shield recessed very well, pins peened and polished and both sides matched well. Price? $65 to the door.

This makes me wonder a couple of things. First, if this is the super limited edition, small run collaboration knife that CASE claims, can't they do any better than that for that price point? I think of the absolutely gorgeous knives from custom makers that have been posted here that are in that price range, and to me, they look flawless. Why would anyone buy this if they saw it first?

Second, I wonder if Mr. Bose knows what they are doing to his name. When buying a branded or endorsed knife, there is the inference that the endorser is involved in some way. With the stellar reputation of Mr. Bose, I wonder where he would land on this. You know something like that would have never left his shop.

Just thinking out loud...

I'm sure all will be well, especially since airing it here.... But, the fact is, that should never have left the factory under any circumstances.

That inlet of the shield beggars belief, slant inleting??? I thought those shields were supposed to be pinned? I've got plenty of GEC with thick stag and all of them have superb inlet shields, no rough proud edges on them or funky angled slanted efforts.

Just to be fair, I've seen worse from other production companies.

Like said, Case will make it right. They are a very good company!

I agree with Don on this. I've seen worse stuff than Case's average stuff on other manufacturers knives, and just poor fitting as well. That's one reason I've been trying to drift away from stag, but good stag is mesmerizing and I can't go cold turkey. GEC has done the best of any production manufacturer I've seen so far (at least with the knives I've bought).

But Kris' knife is just way too sloppy for the price he paid for it and Case needs to fix it or give him another, better one. I feel like they will. But, to me that knife should not have gotten out of the factory. Several people had hands on that knife (I'm guessing) before it hit the truck line. I don't know if one guy or more than one built the scales and another assembled the knife or what, but at the assembly point, it should have been rejected or reworked.

Rant off. .... for now.

A BIG thanks to Katie Shonts-Saar and Case. Katie contacted me through BF and I sent my LC directly to her. Today she emailed me pics and asked if it looked good or they would do it again, and I think the stag looks great. Much more like the stag in the advertisement. I am very happy with the CS from Case and feel the knife is more deserving of the price tag. Night and day difference, in my eyes.

That's more like it, Kris. Glad it worked out for you.

Wow, great outcome!

Thanks for the update.

I'm glad Case is taking care of you (and sounds like possibly contacted you preemptively, upon reading of your disappointment...?).

Now, for them to care to catch these things before they go out the door. Here's hoping!

Regardless, I'm glad they're taking such pains to make this right for you.

That stag looks excellent, Kris. I'm really happy to hear that Case did right by you. Good company, good service.

Glad it worked out, Kris.
I like those long deep grooves in the stag. Hopefully there's enough time for it to be a nice Christmas present :)

Much better! That's a knife you can be proud to own.

Case has let me down several times in terms of QC--I won't buy 'em unseen anymore--but their customer service has always been first rate.

Sorry to hear about your knife Kris, very poor, particularly for that price. Glad it was sorted out to your satisfaction.

What am I, chopped liver? Sheesh. :p

I LOVE this expression! :D

Beautiful! Now that's a great looking LC! I went for the jigged bone myself because I'm never sure of stag via mail order.

In another note, I sent my Case/Bose Norfolk in for repair after the secondary clip developed wobble :(
