Does anyone else here have a CASE caliber? I bought one at a hardware store because it weights next to nothing, has a blade that won't offend in an professional/work environment, it was made in the USA by Case, and it was $15. I would consider this knife to be similar in nature to the ubiquitous Victorinox SAK in terms of price, intent of use, and size.

The one thing negative that I have noticed is that there is some minor vertical blade play. I suspect that for a $15 locking folder with pinned construction this is normal. If you have a Case Caliber (Model #225 L) does your have any blade play? What do you think about it as a knife to fill a SAK-like niche? Mine is a backup to my ZT 562.

I had some Calibers and I like them but I'm back with Spyderco.
That Case will serve you well.

My friend is a farmer with partial paralysis on his dominant side from West Nile. He uses a caliber all the time. It is easy to open with a bad limb/hand and small enough to be an easy carry. He beats it and it takes it for small "truck" farm use. He's an IN cracker :). His only complaint is it is easy to lose in dirt and weeds. He has had two or three over the last ten years and replaced them only because they were lost.

My buddy bought some of those as gifts one time on account of rebate. I think the final price was like $7.
I wasn't impressed with the quality, lots of blade play on the one he opened and showed me. But for seven dollars... he wasn't sorry.

I have the larger Caliber, 147L with clip point blade. It's a fine knife, inexpensive, light, thin but good to handle, full hollow grind. No blade play at all. I like even better the Mini Blackhorn, similar in size to the 225L, but with a narrower blade/handle. Very simple working pocket knife that puts on no airs. Just simple elegance and practical function.
