  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Case CV

I am a little suprised. I thought the "SS" would be much more popular due to higher rust resistance. I have been avoiding CV for that reason. Input would be appreciated. Maybe I should try out a CV model?

I have a few SS and a couple of CV. I love them both but the CV is simply perfect for me. It gets as sharp as anything I've ever been around and develops a beautiful patina.
I've been ogling an Amber Bone Rancher CV Folding Hunter tonight and I think I need it.:D

I have never had a problem with Cases CV or any other carbon steel blade rusting, and I have always used in wet and humid conditions( work and play). I do let a patina form, it is my belief ( I could be wrong ) people that experience rusting issues try and keep the blades shiny and new looking. I am careful when a knife is new and wipe it down, but once the patina forms it seems worry free. Cases CV is excellent and takes and holds a fantastic edge, try one out I bet you will never go back to SS again. Good luck, it's a whole other type of knife addiction:-)
These two go fishing 3-4 times a week.

P.S. I live in a saltwater environment and that has also not been a issue... Hope this helps you with your question about rust resistance.

Another fan of Case CV here!I only have two Case knives in CV,a Sodbuster Jr,and a Swayback Jack.I love them both, and they take an impressive edge!!

I have a sodbuster jr and two Texas jacks in CV. I also have an amber bone stockman, but I think it is Tru-sharp; I'll have to check it. I like CV, and like others, wish it was available in more patterns. Mini copperhead for one. SBG for another.

I guess I'll have to weigh in here on the CV fan club. I do love the stuff. Good edge holding, easy to touch up anywhere, unlike some of the steel of the month that some people like. I've used the heck out of CV, and later touched it up on the bottom of a coffee cup in a few minutes. I've also stropped it on the back of a legal pad, a cardboard box, back of a Dickies work belt, all with good success. CV is just a great using steel for edc, fishing, camping, whatever.

I do wish that Case would make CV available on more of the small models like mini copperheads and Eisenhower's. I wouldn't mind trying a wharnie mini copperhead amber bone and CV.

Carl.

"Wouldn't mind?" That sounds perfect to me. :-)

Wonder what it would take for Case to produce this...?

If they see enough interest/profit in it they will do it. I know that I would be the first in line for one.
