I recently bought my first Case Hobo in amber bone scales. I have been looking at getting one for many years, but never got around to it. To me, it's a cool even if it seems a little bit like a novelty. What do ya'll think about these knives?

Nice! You hittin' the rails? :)
Love to see photos of it disassembled!

I like them......I just don't like the fact that food can get in the pivot:p it really hard to clean out...

I like them. I gave one of my son's friends a hobo for graduation last year because he hikes and camps often. He said it's his favorite grad gift and he takes it with him often.

They are freaking awesome. My buddy always takes his when we go camping. I has the one with just the knife and fork. I want to get the one with the spoon too. Can not go wrong with a case hobo.

theres a lake of stew and whisky too
you can paddle all around em in a big canoe

I have one - knife, spoon, fork combo. Never used it, bought it for the coolness factor.

I'm sorry "meako". I'm just not geting that. I'm old (pushing 70) but I was hoping my mind hadn't started to fade yet.

Anyway I gotta chime in to the OP and say they are very cool knives.

I looked at an amber bone Case mini trapper at the local sporting goods store today. It was the "golfer's special" for lack of a better term. I thought the divot tool on it with a little judicious shaping would make a decent half decent two tined fork. Then I come here and see this thread. It was a good looking tool, but not being a golfer or (yet) a hobo, I didn't buy it.

ETA: I haven't really thought about having one of these hobo knives, but I can see where it would be handy for a camper or scout.

I bought my wife one for her birthday a few years ago, wrapped it up in a red bandana and gave it to her in front of a campfire. It's a nice knife. She loves it; been with us on every camping trip since, and does a lot of hiking if there is a chance of picnic. It's the Amber Bone model with the spoon. I've always wanted one too.

I gave a Case Hobo to each of my sons. My older son got his amber bone when he completed an introductory course during his first year at Scout camp and earned his Totin' Chip (knife and bladed tool safety). My younger son opted for a small OHO when he got his Totin' Chip, but after seeing his older brother use his at a campout a couple of years ago he mentioned it to me. So when he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow he got a Case Hobo too, only he wanted the BSA Caliber handles.

They're very handy on a campout, I borrowed my older son's when I did Scoutmaster and Wood Badge training, been meaning to get one for myself...

I love mine! It was a gift from my father back when I did a lot of motorcycle camping. That and it was really cool to use at the yearly fundraiser game banquet shindig back home.

This thread is lacking something - PICTURES! :D

What if you need your knife and fork at the same time?
