Case jigged yella handles

I love the yella handles of Case knives, but I find them a little slick. If they offered jigged yella handles, I would be in hog heaven. Who else here wants Case to offer jigged yella handles?

I dont know if I would care for it to much, it seems like it would mess with the nostalgia of the yella handles.

I think that would be pretty cool. But traditionally, I believe they have always been smooth. Maybe you should whip out the ol' Dremmel to and try to "jig" the handles yourself. It's a pretty redneck way of personalizing your pocket-knife, but it's worth a shot :D

thesharpstuff- It probably would, but mebbe if they offered one line with smooth, that would suffice.
thesouthernguitarist- I did that on a cheap schrade barlow (one of the china ones) and it turned out pretty well, but I don't really wanna run the risk of screwing up a Case, or any other good knife, for that matter.

Back in April of '08 Morablades posted pics of a yellow Sodbuster & Slim Trapper that were mod'd; the pics aren't up now, though. Maybe we can prevail upon him to post them again? They might give us an idea of what non-standard yellow Delrin might be like.

Sodbuster had wide grooves in the scales and the Slim Trapper had edge scallops. They looked really nice . . . but I'm not so sure about jigged yellow Delrin. The sentimental side of me says "nope". But that's just me.

Case does make a yellow cob bone handle, but it has a rather unattractive green rectangular John Deere shield. But I'm fairly shield picky.

There are stockman, peanut, mini copperlock, and slimline trappers.

Down here in farm country, we always said that John Deere green paint cost extra. It seems when it's on a Case pocket knife it is the same!:D

That said, I cary a Trapper Lock with that same configuration nearly every day. I like the jigged bone, but never saw much point to jigging derlin because it's soft. When you jigg bone it takes on a depth and color play, the derlin is the same color and transparancy through and through and it just doesn't do anything for it's looks. At the most some kind of worm groove, or better yet, bead blasting if all you want is more grip. I wouldn't even look twice at buying a jigged yeller!

They "stipple" plastic pistols with a woodburner/soldering iron. I wonder how it would work on a yeller handle?

That's actually a pretty good idea. You could practice your technique on (an empty) Bic lighter. They are made out of Delrin too.

Who knows, Case might get around to it yet. They've tried about everything under the sun thus far. They have done white jigged delrin recently (currently an 'Elvis' commemorative series), and there's currently a green jigged delrin Peanut out there, as part of a gift set (some examples pictured below):

This is the 4220 SS pattern:

The American Workman series is blue delrin, and all of the patterns except for the sodbuster are jigged. Personally, I don't like "jigged" delrin. (I don't think it's really jigged, just pressed/molded) Smooth delrin feels nice. Jigged delrin feels "cheap" to me.

A nice thing about Delrin, it could easily be sanded a bit, too, if the 'slick' delrin is a bit too slippery for personal preference. If I were wanting to make it a little more 'grippy', that's how I'd likely do it. Could sand the knife as a whole, leaving a satin finish on the bolsters, as well.

Having said that, I also prefer the look & feel of the standard 'smooth' finish. Something very warm and comfortable in the feel of it, to me. :)

If that was a mini trapper, CV bladed, and didn't have that John Deere shield, I'd love it.
ThundarStick- Same here. It's tobacco country here, and most of the guys down here are Iternational Harvester guys anyway. (i'm a New Holland guy, personally.)
OwE- They also have blue jigged derlin in the workman series, and black in the gum fuddy series, and brown in the work knife series. Just no yella.
If I can figure out how to post pictures, I'll post pics of the cheap barlow I did, and the look I was going for.

They've had many jigged delrin over the years. Heres a couple more. I tend to agree with MW though.
