One other thing to consider is if you go CV you will have significantly less choices which is a shame. Where as it seems you have what feels like endless selection of Tru-Sharp blades when it comes to varieties of handle materials they offer.

Off hand I am using this as an example, I remember seeing 1 Case CV Canoe that is in production, and that's the one in Amber Bone. And I lost count how many you have in SS.

Quick way to find out what your options are is to visit the Case website and select the option to view knives by steel type. That should save you some trouble in finding out what you can get in CV.

Both will get you by, but I prefer the CV. Higher quality, even if it isn't 1095 anymore.

Thanks everyone for the info. I've narrowed it down to a yellow trapper or stockman both in cv for my "first" case

Really, I think the "Yeller" CV Case knives are quite cool. Honestly, many of their other handle offerings don't have that old knife cool look, but the Yeller still does.
