Hello, I am thinking about getting a G-10 scaled Case. I noticed from pictures that the blades are not polished and wonder if it does anything to affect it's slicing ability compared to a polished blade.

I'm really liking the thoughts of a slipjoint with the durability of scales made from G-10. With my clumsy butterfingers, I'd probably have lots of cracked scales by now if it wasn't for synthetic handle/scale materials...

What models of G-10 scaled Cases do you have and what has been your experience since owning them?

Thank You

I have a G10 humpback whittler. It's a very well made knife. All of the G10blades come in what Case calls "as ground" finish.

This thread has some pix of them http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=667886&highlight=humpback

I personally think they're some of the best looking Case knives out there. Love the humpback and even the Russlock. It seems to "fit" the more modern G-10.

While a polished blade produces less friction during the cut than a satin blade, the difference is pretty meaningless in actual use. I wouldn't worry about it.

The black G10 series from Case are very durable, and IMO the blade finish goes really well with the G10 scales.

I bought a few of them and noticed that they were all extremely sharp right out of the box.

Thanks for all the great advice and links. I have my eye on a peanut and slimline barehead trapper.

The slimline barehead trapper looks like just an elegant and gorgeous knife with its clean lines, curves, full size and the simplicity of just one blade.

The peanut would appear to be the perfect compliment to the slimline bare head trapper as it appears to be the, "little knife that could...". It gives you a pointy clip point main blade for medium duty cutting and a smaller pen blade for smaller tasks.

All I need to do is just pull the trigger/click that mouse in order to send them home...

Thanks again for all the great replies.

Slimeline barehead trapper got one awsome ! Blade is not polished does not need to be.

I have a G10 handled Peanut and am very happy with it.
It's in my pocket as I type this. :)

Dangit! You made me get in contact with my inside dealer person to see what I can get G10 peanuts for:eek:

Btw, nice icon

God Bless

I've got the Slimline Trapper in G-10 and find it superb. The brushed blade look very good with those scales, particularly as it has brass pins.I suppose the other patterns have brass pins too.

That Moose looks hot......
