I know a lot of folks are not happy with the case knives all of the time, but I pick them up still.

I started with the idea to pick up a differrent doctor knife for each month of the year. I am zeroing in on that and wanted to post about the most recent one. Case is making a cabernet handled knife.
This was perfect for April as here in the Yakima Valley, the last weekend of April is the spring barrel tasting event for all of the wineries.

I liked this color scheme enough that I ordered a trapper design as well.

I will try to post some pictures of the 9 knives so far tonight or tomorrow morning.

I've been looking pretty hard at a couple of Case knives, the Wharncliffe copperlock and the mini trapper. I like the designs and the sizes and I'm curious to see how the CV stacks up against 1095.

I like case knives. They have had their quality issues at times, and still sometimes, but all in all I still like them. Unfortunatley when I do buy them, I sometimes will have to sift through some until I find one that passes, but the appeal is still there.

The only Case I have is a three dot (that would make it 1977) 6165L locking one blade hunter in stainless with rosewood scales.

At over 5 inches closed it´s my largest folder, it doesn´t feel as strong as I would like from a knife this size and doesn´t hold an edge as long as my other large folders (two Pumas, One Boker in 440C and a two Bucks also in 440c).

Still, it´s a pretty knife and has been a very decent user.

I do not understand all the bad charma regarding Case knives. I have just purchased 2 on behalf of my brother who collects them (and all of his are just fine - 40+), and the quality and fit n' finish are bloody great! I will admit, it would be better to see the blades in Carbon steel, but, for EDC I am sure that the ss would handle any job just fine. I plan on to start collecting them myself.

My brother just got 2 Bonestag 2002 models and both are just beautiful. The folding Hunter and the Trapper.

Ed T - I would love to see some pics and if okay, can I post a pic of my brothers in your thread too?

Guy,
Feel free to post the pictures, I would love to see them.

I am digging out the camera now for taking some pics.

Here is a whittler alongside a scrimshawed whaling scene copperhead and a green bone trapper. (Cabernet trapper on the way in the mail)

Here are the docs so far..
A red Robeson for February,
A cabernet Case for Aplril,
A yellow Case for May.

More docs
A carribean for June,
Stars and Strpes for July,
A Remington for August.

Very nice, Guy.
I didn't realize that the folding hunters were that large. May have to pick up one or two..

Nice flies too, those pictures almost smell like a creek in the morning, and here I am in the middle of a big urban monster (Mexico city).
