Case Medium Stockman Question

I wanted to update this thread...
I was able to instantly pick up a Case #47 Stockman from our Exchange.
It arrived today and it is an absolutely gorgeous knife. The fit n finish is great with one very, very slight gap. The walk n talk is fantastic too, really reminds me of the action found on a Victorinox, so smooth and snappy. With the three springs, there is zero blade rub and it really doesn't add hardly anything to the thickness of the knife. And oh boy, the jigged bone and color is just amazing, and I love the nice broad clip-point blade. Thanks everybody for introducing me to the #47 pattern, I'd never had one before and I think it's going to be amazing. Not a "Medium" but I'm very happy with it.:thumbsup:

Great looking knife. Probably my favourite size for a stockman.

I picked one up off the Exchange. I'm anxious to try it out. :)
When you replied to my post and said you found one on the Exchange, I went snooping to see what you came up with. I was VERY impressed to see that it was jigged chestnut bone with a superb shield!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the update, John, and congrats on the handsome stockman; glad your first impressions are so positive!:thumbsup::)
I prefer round-bolstered stockman knives in the 3 1/2" to 3 7/8" range with low-riding sheepsfoot blade, and the 6347 from Case is an excellent example.
(As someone else pointed out, you need to try a sowbelly stockman, too. :D)

Thank you, GT. :)
I didn't waste any time trying out a new (to me) pattern.
I'm sure i'll try out a Case Sowbelly some day too. ;)

I like the 47 stockman best. It is a nice useable size, and the round bolsters make it carry smaller than it actually appears. I also like the sowbelly, but it is a thicker heavier knife and I can feel it more in my pocket, even though it is the same length as the 47. When I think of stockman, it is the 47 that comes to mind.

The 47 is a great stockman, then and now. Good choice John.

Here's a couple 47's that I use. The red one is carbon which is my preference but the stainless amber bone is convenient to carry on humid and sweaty summer days. I picked up the amber on ebay for a bargain price, the red cv was bought new, which is still a bargain for how much knife you are getting for your money. Both knives are very well made and have satisfying snap.

Beautiful pair. I may have to keep my eyes peeled for a CV version, after my pocketbook feels a bit better. ;)

Thank you, Dean. :)

Thanks John. I think they still make the red cv's, and also a yellow one. They finally came out with cv 47's again just a couple years ago.
