Case Mini-Copperhead - sometimes a little tinkering makes it all good

Wow, meako-- I'm really glad you were able to achieve the result you did. I clicked on this post to read the newest first-- your before-and-after pictures-- it took me a moment to regain a frame of reference, and especially to remember that your knife was described by Case as being black.

Nice job!

Just ordered a Chesnut Deep Canyon Warncliffe Mini Copperhead for my birthday.

You guys have me hoping that it comes in dyed out of spec so I can fix it!!!!! :)

I know a lot of guys on a G-Shock watch forum I visit use RIT dye to change the color of the cases, never thought about knife handles until this thread.

I have a nice Case pocket hunter in 'sky blue' that is too much sky and not enough blue, I'm wondering if I can get a Mediterranean blue effect on it if I use a dark blue dye...hmmm

Hey Zippofan, wondered if you were the same one from the G-shock forum! Haven't been there in a while, got side-tracked by knives! Back on topic, I just picked up a Case 6344 that's not as red as I'd like, this thread really has me thinking of color combinations.

I checked out the RIT website. They have an incredible colour range that you can achieve by blending their standard colours.
I also replied to the dealer and expressed my disappointment. Being so far away does lend to sending things back and forth in the mail.
I suggested next time they should visually check it for me prior to sending. Thats fair IMO.
cheers.

That looks nice meako:thumbup:

When I use the dye...I used an old tin can on top of a frying pan...it allows the dye and knife to be gradually heated...and LOTS OF NEWSPAPER!!! LOL
My wife would KILL me if I got dye all over the kitchen;););)
I've got it all worked out-just say you love her and you've decorated the kitchen..

Damn! Just got my mini copperhead warncliffe deep canyon chesnut knife in the mail and it is dead solid perfect!

These Case people are so annoying! :) Seriously, I could not be more pleased but it is nice to know that we can easily
tweak the dye jobs on a knife if it is not the way we like it! I use Rit dye to color the epoxy resin that I coat my kayak
paddles with so I have several colors on hand. Looks like a lot of fun to use on bone as well. Again, top notch thread FG!

FG, what color RIT dyes did you use? I received this one yesterday, and it could use a little enhancement.

Wow, Doug-- sorry to see that. You haven't had the best luck with chestnut, have you?

But, as the OP so eloquently expressed it, when the "deep canyon" goes awry, it can be gruesome. I seen worse, but I'm glad you have some RIT recourse all the same.
