Case or Buck stockman

I don't have really any quarrels with either the Buck or Case Stockman, however have found that the 301 while robust and quite sturdy sports much thicker blades than a Case would, before my time the Buck 301s had a nice thinner FFG blade, but now have massive hollow ground blades. The Case on the other hand is the polar opposite as we all know and has very sharp, thin blades. It really boils down to personal preference and the intended use of the knife. I see the Case playing the more traditional stockman role, being more adept to working cattle, and cutting flesh. The Buck would make for a fine, more utility oriented knife as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the input and I think I will go with what most of you said and go with one of each and see for myself after some testing and carry each for a bit to see which one i like best.

Ah, the classic choice

Both

Congrats and enjoy them and their differences

I would say both just not at the same time..My budget with the family is one at a time, as cash allows...Think about two differant size stockman models you would like..Get whichever one you can afford now and in the future,,get the other...Buck and Case are my favorite traditionals and you can't go wrong with either...

If you already had a buck, why not try a Case ?
I love my 3318, it has a "pinch-able" sheepsfoot, it's tougher than it looks, and makes a very good slicer.
Also, the 75 pattern is a beast, just like the buck 307 i hear...
