Case or Canal St.

Not trying to hijack here...and those are two solid knifemakers.

But have you tried anything from GEC?

They exude quality.

Absolutely love them.

Aside from Case and Canal Street, I have a couple of GECs
I find the Canal Street to be just as well built as the GECs.
The GECs have much stronger springs (I have broken finger nails opening them.)
I actually prefer my Canal Street over the GEC.

AG Russell has the rockwell posted on his site. I found a large stockman CV for about the same price as the medium stockman with the stainless... I am between a rock and a hard place...

If edge holding is priority 1 then you need to think Queen and their D2 Steel at near 60 Rc. Not as fine as Schatt & Morgan but the steel is MUCH better

I like Traditional pocket knives a lot. My experience of Canal St has been 4 knives, I only have one now and I rate them lower than CASE, Queen Cutlery or GEC. Why? I find the spring on these knives to be extremely weak and this is not to my taste at all, I don't much fancy their cheapo coin style shield either but that's just personal taste. CASE, Queen and GEC also have a much bigger range of knives to choose from.

I realize that others' have different experiences or needs and I respect that.

Variety, especially of opinions, is the spice of life.;)

I do agree that the others have a much larger range of choices.
