Case Pass Around Box #2

I think the Case Medium Jack is the perfect small knife.
Big enough to do some work, small enough to still be considered small and polite, and feels very good in the hand... it's a Classic.

I thought that might be the case (ha) when I saw one. I'm glad to get one in-the-hand. Any smaller though and it starts to get fumbly. For me anyways.

At this point I can safely say the Medium Jack is a keeper from the box.

The 6147 fits my hand well and the single blade fits my normal wants for that size. But the olive bone on the Mini Moose keeps whispering in my ear. I do know that knife would just sit around and look nice, and I really don't want any more "shiny things" that don't get used much (or at all).

I'll likely have a final decision this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest.

OK - decision made. Pulling the Medium Jack and the single-blade Stockman out of the box.

Additions to the box will be two patterns not currently in the box - a Mini Copperlock and a Pocket Hunter.

Pics and some details of the added knives to follow in the next two posts.

Mini Copperlock. Sculpted and colored bone on the mark side, smooth white bone on the pile. Very little use or pocket carry. Minor surfaces scratches, minor wear on tang. Very slight proudness to one pin on the pile side, and spring when closed. Slight patina/ verdigris starting on the pins. I can touch the pins with a very small amount of polish and a cotton swab if you all want, or leave them as-is so whoever grabs it can handle it however they want instead.

Pocket Hunter. Stag (IIRC Red Stag, but not 100% sure). Very little use or pocket carry. Minor surfaces scratches, minor wear on tang. No half-stop on these. Slight patina/ verdigris starting on the pins. I can touch the pins with a very small amount of polish and a cotton swab if you all want, or leave them as-is so whoever grabs it can handle it however they want instead.

Fantastic additions, you made it's first stop very enjoyable. Thank you. 🤠
By the way... I'm okay with dropping my name from it and just calling it the "Case Pass Around Box".

John - thank you for starting the pass-around, I feel so lucky to have gotten the first draw. I think my excitement might have been evident in my posts... Hopefully others feel the same as they get the box.

I'll see if I can change the thread title.

Spent some time doing some TLC on the Med Jack and Stockman.

Medium Jack met with some mineral oil and a cotton swab, spotting on the blades has wiped off. Good to go. Not sure if this knife ever saw any use it's in such good condition.

Stockman has a lot of good life left in it, even though it has been well-used. Action was a little gritty, but IMHO still has good snap open and closed. Gunk from handling and use in the blade well. Clip point has been worn down and had a hump in the spine due to the wear. Needs a new bevel and sharpening.

Did a hot water and soap bath, scrubbing with a toothbrush, toothpick, and pipe cleaner. Got all the gunk out that'll come out for now, will be using some blue lube cleaner when I get a new bottle, should eat what little oil-based gummy is remaining. Action is much smoother, still a nice snap at open and close. My OCD was twitching a bit over the worn clip point and the hump, so I slowly worked that down to almost gone and slightly rounded the spine edges to remove the beginnings of sharpness. Side benefit is the rounded point is now closer to a normal point. Hit the bolsters with a little flitz, surface scratches are gone and the metal is a tiny bit shinier.

Another month or two down the road I'll make a decision on which guided sharpener I'll get, and once I have it I'll work on re-establishing a solid bevel and then sharpen. And that'll be it. The character it arrived with is still there IMHO, and I have no intention of trying to remove it. Solid knife, should work well for years.

This shows the hump towards the tip of the blade that was making my OCD twitch, better than the others I've posted:

And the following two are after the cleaning and work on the hump area:
