The case peanut seems like a classic knife with a unique look. What is the best one to buy? I am not looking to spend much money but would like to have a peanut in my collection.

I'm not sure there is a "best one" - I think it's pretty subjective. However, if I were to buy it would be the yellow delrin with CV blades, or for a little more, Chestnut Bone with CV blades.

Best advice I can give you is to go to a dealer and look at several different ones then pick what you like. They are all pretty close in price except for stag.

I agree with the above. If you are looking to get "Classic & Value" yellow delrin CV is the only way to go.

The peanut is an excellent choice, one of their better patterns as far as consistency of build quality. I would prefer one with CV blades, but I'm not a fan of the yellow plastic.

They do a nice chestnut bone and CV combo. The dark red bone is nice.
Or if you'd prefer stainless, the smooth chestnut bone is stunning and unique.

There is not such thing as a wrong peanut. In fact, there is no bad peanut. No matter if it's beautiful chestnut bone, a pocket worn red bone, or even a classic yella 'nut with CV blades, it's all good. All will automatically grant you membership in The Cult. Either will be a faithful pocket company that will handle most of your day to day cutting jobs. It's all in what grabs your taste, like 31 flavors ice cream. Some folks like rocky road, others love the chocolate chip.

It's all good!

The Peanut will be a great choice. As I am sure you know, many manufacturers make 'em. Case seems to make the widest selection. In the Case line I think the Butter Rum / Corelon look really cool. Some of the different green and blue variations look great too.

Check out some sites that "specialize" in Case knives and you will see TOO MANY choices.

I do have a Queen in Burnt Stag that is very nice as well.

Good luck and have fun collecting them.

If you like carbon steel (Case's Chrome Vanadium is a carbon steel), then either the Chestnut Bone or Yellow Delrin are the way to go, depending on your preferences. The yellow Delrin will be less expensive.

If you want to browse the different handle options with their current production, the company's web site has most of them listed: http://www.wrcase.com/sidesearch/index.php?q=peanut&Submit=Search

BINGO!

This would be my suggestion also. These are THE classic versions of the Peanut IMHO. Yellow Delrin and chestnut bone, whichever you prefer. CV steel of course. I have both and they're among my very favorite pocket knives.

can anyone give me an item number so I can find it, its kinda hard to find the one I want. i like the look of the chestnut bone and it looks like it needs to be in CV steel.

Case Chestnut Bone CV Peanut. Pattern is 6220 CV. Case Item Number #7006.

Armed with that information and Google, you'll find one. You could also have looked at that link to the Case web site I provided.
