This thread for all of you to showcase your as-ground, satin finished, Case knife blades. I've not seen one in person, so do your best Ansel Adams or Eddie Adams.:) If you have another brand traditional with a satin finish, post it up as well.

1989 #0200W SS Wharncliffe Copperhead Trapper, 4", in green jigged burnt bone. Notable vertical striations on both blades.

I love the as-ground finish. My sole example, a Peanut in mediterranean blue:

Ooooohh, Sarah, I love that swedge! One of the prettiest clip blades I've ever seen!

It's amazing if one looks close enough, certain details begin to appear, such as the elongated nail nick on the Med Blue Peanut. The swedge is also not a common feature as I am finding out.

Thanks, all. :o

Not that this will help, but I lucked into finding this one. Or rather, I went on a hunt for Case's "mediterranean blue" soon after re-entering the world of traditional knives and seeing a knife like it in someone's picture here, and this one turned up in a side stream (a store with a website but no real "presence" via Search, etc.). I haven't seen another one available since.

Right, this long-pull, swedged edition is "limited," or some such. The long pull's rearwards placement is less conducive to actually opening the blade than a centered or (especially) forward crescent nick would be, but what it lacks in function it more than makes up for in beauty. I oh-so-slightly sanded the vertical edges of the swedge right where it's cut into the blade (just forward of the long pull)-- they were so crisp in this as-ground iteration that I kept hurting my hand/fingers on the top of the blade.

I love that swedge! I wish Case would utilize this on more of their knives. It adds such a great touch to the blade. Swedge and long pulls are the reasons I love so many of GEC's designs.

Is that Copperlock the brown delrin, 2002? I have the same knife in my pocket right now.

I like satin finishes generally, but there is something pretty cool about the "as ground" version. I first re-experienced it on a humpback whittler and my wife bought me the aforementioned and pictured Copperlock. The Copperlock has a polished spine, the humpback does not.

In contrast to the rounding that occurs on Case's mirror finished blades, the as-ground leaves everything crisp, possibly too crisp around the swedges.

Yessir, we have the same model knives. I stoned and buffed the crisp edges by the swedges for a better backpocket carry. One of my favorite Copperlocks.

I have the G-10 Humpback Whittler, too. One of Case's better efforts.

Yessir same here. About the only thing that would have improved the humpback to me would be a long pull on the spear and coping/sheepsfoot instead of spey. Then it would be about perfection.
