Case Small Saddlehorn

Jake, I marked up the secondary blade using permanent marker and I looks as if a coping mod could be done close to the nail nick. My Saddlehorn is a 2006 but fairly new to me so I'm happy with it the way it is ... for now. The coping mod is just something I was considering after seeing Big Biscuit do the same to some of his blades.

Edit; I looked up the Bose/Case Muskrat only to find now I want one!:D:)

Case knives can really vary - this one is perfect in the blade centering, opening and closing snap, and came sharp enough to easily slice. I like the "new grind" style tang's and the blade shapes. This one has the Bone-Stag combined with a bolster end. I carry with the wide end turned toward the inside corner of my LF jeans pocket - fits just right. OH

Comeuppance I am sorry you were disappointed in your knives. Though I do enjoy the Saddlehorn my favorite Case singe blade clip point is the Trapperlock and my favorite multi blade Case is the Sowbelly. Like you I do like those clip points but I also like having a sheepfoot.

I usually pair up my traditional carry with a modern folder and/or my Spyderco Roadie, so I'm generally covered for additional blade styles:

Gotta have that straight edge! Clip/spear points are good at a lot of things - but when it comes to opening packages, the standard utility knife blade profile reigns supreme :)

Would it be worthwhile sending them into Case for fixing the issues, or should I just chalk it up to the original price point and hock 'em on the bay?

One had a loose blade and you could send that in to Case or return it. You said the blades are off center on both. An off center blade is not something that is necessarily a fault. Some single blade knives are built with off center blades, especially if they use the same parts as a 2-blade and the blades are offset. As long as the blades aren't hitting the scales ("liners"), it shouldn't cause any problems. Centered blades often have very little to do with quality in a slipjoint. Some folks may not realize that the tangs on GEC knives are annealed and all they do is knock the blades this way or that way to center them. It could be considered attention to detail. But in my opinion, it has little to do with quality. The other problem was dull edges and that is fixed by sharpening.
