Case Stockman vs Sowbelly

Great edge-u-cation for me, thanks!
The aspect of the Buck blades that you don't like is actually called a "sabre grind," wherein the primary grind only goes a little more than halfway up the height of the blade. The primary bevel can be flat-ground or hollow-ground, or even convex. This is the main difference between the Bucks' and Cases' blades. They are both hollow-ground, but the Case blades have a full hollow grind.

Gotcha Pukko. I can relate now that I think of that in Spyderco terms, as on the Endur-licas. Handled a large stockman tonight, the 4.25" model(?). The sheepsfoot shares the spring of the spey. However, when opened, it's bent dramatically toward the clip blade. It not only rubbed, but the edge darn near bit into the spine of the clip blade. :( Just am example of some QC that got missed, or perhaps some ne'er-do-well modified it while in his hands. Anyhow, the butt-end of the bolster dug into my palm uncomfortably when holding it as if to use it.

Got to handle the SS Carhart and the trad-stag Copperlocks, both of which again convinced me this is one Case I have to have. Once again, rock-solid lock-up w/o discernible blade-play. Once I get some of my wares to new homes, I will rock a Copperlock. :D
