My two favorite case patterns are the Large Stockman and the CopperLock. I dont see many of the large stockmans anymore. DO any of you guys carry a large stockman?

I've got a 6375 CV that sees some pocket time. It's a chestnut bone model from 1999 if I recall correctly offhand.

Also carry a 6347 (3 Dot, 1977) from time to time.

I stockman around 4'' is my favorite type of pocket knife, I wish case would make them in cv, is puzzles me why they don't actually!:confused:

I was excited, thought they were making them 3-7/8 or 4'' when I read your post
Sorry to have been the cause of unwarranted emotion and false hope. The Case Large Stockman are all 4-1/4". That's not close enough to 4"? ;)

Some of the Medium Stockmans are 3-7/8", but none of the CV models. I suppose that's what you were saying. Just curious, do you really notice the difference between a knife that's 3-5/8" and one that's 3-7/8" ? Looking at my ruler, I can't say that a quarter-inch one way or the other would make any difference to me...

I carry a case large stockman, 3375. i think, yellow scales and cv steel.I really like it. when i want something small i go with the serpentine stockman in yellow/cv. great knives.

Yea, I get confused because from some makers a 4'' stockman is a "large" but from Case it's a 4.25". I've carried And old timer senior and uncle henry king ranch? So long, they seem to be just right, a 3 1/2 or 3 5/8 just seems a little small, and the 4 1/4 models are substantially larger, length and width. But thats just me :)

I REALLY like stockman patterns..I have I think 16 different kinds varying in size and quality ...I really dig the case large stockman for camping and such...Its built like a tank...For edc it's a little big...THe medium models are really good ..the 3&5/8's model fills the hand nicely and has a blade identical in sizes to alot of the 4 inch stockman I own it's a nice piece...

I believe that Case (at least used to) refer to the "47" (and perhaps the "92") pattern as a large stockman, though the "75" pattern is their largest stockman.

Knifeaholic or one of our other resident experts should be able to shed some light here.

Stockman patterns are my favorites, all sizes. Along with Cattle Kings, Railsplitters, and the occasional Whittler . . .

(edits mine) It is, as far as I could tell. I have a large 6.5 (#6.5375) bonestag CV Stockman (4-1/4" closed), I bought that one while shopping around for a Buck 307 (4" closed). I bought the Case # 6.5375 Stockman because I liked the appearance of the handle material. It's now my favorite knife. Rides really well in the watch pocket of my jeans, doesn't take up too much room in a regular pocket, although I'll probably be contacting a member here and have a nice belt pouch made. I'm a stay-at-home dad, so I get to carry whatever I want "at work". ;) I looked at the patterns mentioned above that collectorknives.com had, then settled on the Case, for now.

thx - cpr

By the way, someone else posted in another thread that 6.5 is being discontinued. Guess I better get my 6.5 "Sunday Peanut" while I still can.

lotoblades,

I have one of these, and it's a round-bolster 3 7/8" Stockman. It's a good usin' size!

Yep, that's a "47" pattern. They don't currently make 'em in CV (though I've strongly suggested to Case that they should). Great carry knife. I have three 47's. One stockman and two double-end premium jacks from the 70's up to 1980.
:thumbup:

The Queen #9 pattern in D2 is very similar.

I love stockmans, especially the larger models. I suggest you check out the large stockman in person before you get it. I did, and I did not like the Case offerings. The blades are very thin on the large stockman models.

how about some pictures . . .

(edits mine) We just finished moving - I'll come back to this thread when I can get the scanner up & running and post. I need to photo everything for insurance anyway.

thx - cpr

Good looking knife...add CV blades...I'd probably have on in my pocket :) (currently I have Case cv sodbuster Jr. and A Victorinox pioneer harvester...for what it's worth :D )

And Blues, I think your right, they should offer it in CV, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants one!

I'll try to get a pic of some of my stockmans, nothin to fancy mind you...but I like em :D

You know? It's gotten to the point that I don't think Case really cares what people actually want. Either that or there a lot of people out there who want silly colored handles and stainless blades.

I don't mean to digress this topic, it's just that I've been very frustrated lately looking for decent looking knives from Case. And now they're cutting out "bone stag", reducing the numbers of yellow handled knives, and despite lip service to the contrary, appear to be cutting down the number of CV offerings.

From large to small in case....

75 = square bolster 4.25
92 = square bolster 4"
47 = round bolster 3 7/8 sometimes called "Premium"
32 = square bolster 3.5
18 = round bolster "Premium" 3.5
