I know it's hard to believe, but I don't have a single one to show. However, I do want to add that your photos are of excellent quality and a pleasure to look at. Good job all.

One more with the "For Flesh Only" etch. If I think too much about the original purpose of the spey blade on a stockman's knife, it gives me the shivers.

I was born and raised on Stock knives, so this is going to be a fun thread to watch..

Here she is, my very first pocket knife was given to me by my Uncle Lew in the middle 1960's. She was a hand me down at the time and at that particular moment in time a thought I was being gifted the Holy Grayel of pocket knives. A Case #64047P in old original Jigged Green Bone. 4 inches in the closed position and 4 blades--tools including the leather punch. A now-a-days Discontinued Case model.. Was produced by Case either in the very late 1940's or very early 1950's with Nickel Silver bolsters, liners and shield. This model has 2 back-springs and Case later came out with a similar model, But with 3 back-springs and brass liners and was a good solid knife but were quite a bit heavier and know where near the class of materials and quality as this wonderful gem.. My Uncle had just purchased one(the exact same model) brand new Case in Stag and treated the new one extra special, just like I saw him care for the one he was a passing on to me.

I skinned and gutted many a Cotton Tail rabbit, Bob White Quail, wild Dove and lots of squirrels, and for the longest time, that knife was the only knife I ever used or owned.

Then later in my teens in the early 1970's I found myself loading up an order of lumber for the job I was on and was at a hardware store and I had a fist full of money as I had just gotten paid at my job. I went and bought another Case Stockman. They all looked so purdy lined up behind the counter. I chose a little smaller one this time. A 3 blade with with Yellar synthetic handles. Most all the fellas on my construction crew had the same model too.. A # 33044. They used to call them the Birds Eye Stockmen. I thought they looked pretty cool with they're big oversized pivot pins where the bolster ought to have been. But they didn't have any bolsters, just bolster less with those big pivot pins. I noticed right aways that quality and smooth operation of the fine blade snap, open and close. And yet again fine carbon steel and NS liners. I figured I had me another winner.

Anthony, that's not just pocket-worn bone on that Stockman, it's decades smooth and polished!

Fantastic pattern too.

Regards, W

Anthony, what a terrific gift from your uncle. You don't see those come up very often... I can see why you thought you had the holy grail.

thawk... On your 087, it looks like the pattern number was scribed instead of stamped. Is it just the picture ?

Great thread. Some dandies indeed.

I've carried this one the longest as far as edc. I should take some better pics. I have my initials carved into the bone. I was bored at work one night.

The 087PE is faint compared to the front side of the tang. Which is a deeper stamp. Looks like a different process. Never seen one of these other than mine in person. If someone else has another one like this that could take a good picture of the tang though, I'd like to compare. Others I've seen (in pictures) look similar to mine.

The famous 1975 Case model # 33044 (3) blade Stockman, nickel silver liners, pins and shield. She is 3 1/4 inches in the closed position. This knife took on a nick-name by her many fans called the Birdseye Stockman because of the look the knife bore with the big oversized pins at the end where the bolsters would have been.. Like the Eye of a bird.

EDIT: Thanx very, very kindly for all the nice comments you fellows made for on my initial post, a few posts back regarding the # Green bone # 64047P Stockman. That knife truy is a actual pocket worn knife! :D
