Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum and I would like your feedback.
I just got a Case swayback jack with the CV blades from Ebay. The knife has a
tang stamp from 2009, came in original box and appears to be in mint condition and never sharpened. I bought this with the intention of using as an EDC.
My cost was $67.00 delivered. A few days after I won the item, 2 more CV swaybacks went up for sale on Ebay. The first sold for $168.00 and the next one sold for $162.50. Am I missing something here? These were later tang stamps than the one I purchased.
My question is---Should I put this in the safe or go ahead and use it.
What would YOU do???
Thanks.

They are discontinued in the Chestnut CV family, and for those who like CV steel they are somewhat sought after. The price you paid is a fair price for the knife. That's pretty much what they sold for while they were in current production.

If you want to flip it for a profit, looks like you could. If you bought it to use, I'd go ahead and use it. The pattern itself is not discontinued, only the CV version of it, though the more recent versions of it are in the 1-blade "gent" version.

Totally up to you.

Thanks John for the quick reply. I almost always have a Case or a GEC traditional in my
pocket. These CV swaybacks seem to be in high demand because they were discontinued.
I'm leaning more towards my original intention. It belongs in my pocket.

Since you are new here - we have a specific subforum, Traditional-Folders-and-Fixed-Blades, where we discuss and show off our GEC, Case, Queen, Canal Street, Rough Rider, and other brand traditional knives. You should check it out, you might find it to be a good place to visit.

I'd look at it like this: You can carry and use it as much as you want, and, if you ever tire of it, you can probably still sell it without having lost any cash. It's like having an indefinite satisfaction guarantee.

Did they have the same handle material? The stag ones go for much more. In any case that is a nice score.
